Many were either killed or went missing as a consequence of the teleportation, which effectively destroyed Rudeus' home in Buena Village as well as the Fittoa Region as a whole.

The Build Up To The Tragedy

Many teleportation events had taken place in the Six-Faced World — the setting forMushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation— prior to the start of the story, and hadlead to the banning of Teleportation Magic, which grew to become a point of contention. In the original version of the Six-Faced World, there were six realms, each home to a unique race. They were: the Dragon World, the Sky World, the Demon World, the Beast World, the Ocean World, and the Human World, with the Void World in between them all.

Conflicts between worlds were common, and the use of teleportation between them inspired a great deal of suspicion, as the arrival of individuals from other worlds was sometimes seen as the prelude to an invasion. The balance of mana between all the world is what kept them in check, and any imbalance is rectified through teleportation events where trees, animals, and people are all transported to other realms. In time, once the other five worlds had fallen, all of those left alive in the other worldsjourneyed to the Human World and settled there, making it the main setting for the story.

What Caused The Teleport Incident?

The seeds for this Teleport Incident were laid nearly 80 years into the future, with an individual known as the Playback Miko, who had thepower to rewind time for a period of 24 hours. During a time of war, a certain nation used the Playback Miko’s ability to summon an individual from another to become their hero, according to a prophecy. The Miko developed feelings for the boy and was devastated when he died after being forced on to the battlefield.

She then resolved to burn out all of her power to summon another individual with similar feelings as herself, in the form of his girlfriend from his original world — Nanahoshi Shizuka — transporting her to the Fittoa Region 80 years prior to the war. This course of action was taken so that she could set events up so that the boy would not fall victim to the conflict. Initially, this attempt failed as the world itself fought back against her wish to alter fate, but it opened up a rift in space and time, which allowed a recently deceased soul to enter the Human World, reincarnating in the body of Rudeus Greyrat.

As he spent more time in the world and began to influence it to a greater extent, the world’s resistance grew weaker, with the Miko’s power gaining the upper hand. This shift in dynamic manifested as a glowing red orb in the skies over the Fittoa Region. Over time, as its size increased and reached a critical mass, the world lost itsability to hold back the Miko’s will, eventually permitting it to triumph and summon the boy’s girlfriend to the Human World. This event was the root cause of the Teleport Incident inMushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, which devastated the entirety of the Fittoa Region, and altered the lives of its residents forever.

The Fallout Of The Calamity

Prominent characters in the series such asPerugius Dola and Kishirika Kishirisunoticed the build up of mana around the orb prior to the start of the event, with Perugius even sending his servant Almanfi to investigate the anomaly. In its first phase, the calamity manifested as a brilliant pillar of light emanating from the skies where the orb was situated. It gradually expanded in width to encompass a large portion of the Fittoa Region, teleporting all caught within it to random locations in various parts of the Human World.

This event was the reason behind Rudeus and Eris' journey, as they had been transported from the Fittoa Region to the Demon Continent. If not for the Teleport Incident, the two would not have formed the same bond and developed romantic feelings for one another, despite how close they had become during their time in Roa.The duo also met Ruijerddue to being transported to the Demon Continent, leading to him accompanying them on their journey back home.

Rudeus' family members also suffered due to the calamity, where Paul and Norn were sent to the southern regions of the Asura Kingdom where they settled in the city of Millishion to search for the rest of their family. Sylphiette was sent to the palace of the Asura Kingdom where she had to assume a new identity and become the bodyguard of Ariel Anemoi Asura, the kingdom’s second princess. Lilia and Aisha were teleported to the Shirone Kingdom where they were held captive by Pax Shirone. Zenith was transported to the Teleportation Labyrinth where she would be imprisoned for years. Lastly, Nanahoshi was summoned to the Asura Kingdomand saved by Dragon God Orsted, to become his traveling companion.

Ghislaine was also transported to the Strife Zonewhere she found that Philip and Hilda Boreas Greyrat had died. With the Fittoa Region left in ruins, Eris' grandfather, Sauros Boreas Greyrat was blamed for the tragedy as the one in charge of ruling the region. He was executed as punishment, despite being completely helpless to prevent the calamity, and was succeeded by James Boreas Greyrat. Both Buena Village and Roa were razed off the face of the world, leaving only rubble behind.
