Mortal Kombat 11game director Ed Boon has been posting cryptic tweets, with many assuming that he is building up to the reveal of a newMK11DLC character. The character still has yet to be revealed, but Boon has been responding to some fans on Twitter to debunk some of their theorized characters.

The latestMortal Kombat 11DLC clue includes an image ofKobra, who is one of the least popular characters inMortal Kombat’s history. Along with the image of Kobra, Boon included the text “6 degrees. . . .” with no added context. What this means exactly is unclear at the time of this writing, but fans started replying to the Kobra image, guessing that Boon is teasing either Kobra asMK11DLC or Havik.

In his responses, Boon confirmed that neitherHaviknor Kobra are currently planned to as DLC forMortal Kombat 11. However, Boon didn’t respond to those who were guessing that Rain is going to be anMK11DLC character, which could be a strong indication that the Rain theory is correct.

For those who haven’t been following along, Ed Boon has posted three clues before this, and some fans think that they point directly toRain as being the next DLC fighter. The clues have revolved around the singer Prince and his albumPurple Rain, which is where the character Rain got his name to begin with. Of course, it’s also possible that Boon is just trolling fans and there are no plans to bring Rain toMortal Kombat 11at all.

Meanwhile,Mortal Kombat 11datamining leaks may have revealed some future plans that NetherRealm has for the popular fighting game. For example, voice files leaked that seem to suggest the cast from the1995Mortal Kombatmoviehave recorded dialogue for the game. This has led many to believe that DLC based on theMortal Kombatmovie is coming toMK11, either in the form of new character skins or a voice pack.

Others still have clung on to some of the more outlandishMortal Kombat 11leaks, like the one that claims Harley Quinn,Halloween’s Michael Myers, and thehighly-requested Mileenaare going to be added. Whether or not there’s any truth to these “leaks” remains to be seen, especially since NetherRealm is hiring for next-gen projects, and one has to imagine that the studio is about ready to move on fromMortal Kombat 11. Time will tell, butMortal Kombatfans will want to keep an eye on Boon’s Twitter feed in the meantime.

Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
