Mortal Kombat 1players will be able to find green locked gates in all of the Mesas that they visit during Season 7 of Invasions Mode. Behind these gates are secret areas, each of which contains chests and a bunch of high-level encounters.

Unfortunately, to open the locked gates, players will need a special item known as the Soul of a Sorcerer. The game tells them this right from the get-go, although offers no real guidance on where to find the Soul of a Sorcerer inMortal Kombat 1.

How to Get the Soul of a Sorcerer in Mortal Kombat 1

Players will get the Soul of a Sorcerer for defeating the final boss of Invasions Mode. In Season 7, that’s the Deadly Sorcerer: a Shang Tsung variant who can be found in the Living Forest. As was the case withthe previous Invasions Mode boss fight, the best strategy for defeating the Deadly Sorcerer involves using Sub-Zero, as he’ll deal more and take less damage due to his elemental affinity. Even with type advantage, though, this fight can be quite tricky due to the soul-sucking attack that the Deadly Sorcerer uses between phases. To combat this, players can low block on the opposite side of the screen to the giant vortex. Alternatively, they can use a Translucency Field Konsumable just before the fight, as this will make them immune to all projectiles.

Players can find a Translucency Field in a chest in Shang Tsung’s Laboratory. Alternatively, Translucency Fields can be purchased from the Gateway Portal shop, although players may need to allow the stock to cycle a few times to get one to show up.
