Summary

A vocal segment of NetherRealm’s fandom has recently taken to social media to voice their unhappiness about the amount of Omni-Man content that the developer added toMortal Kombat 1. Their complaints add to the list ofMortal Kombat 1criticismthat the players have levied against the game since its mid-September market debut.

Omni-Man is the firstMortal Kombat 1DLC characterthat NetherRealm added to its latest fighting title as part of its $39.99 Kombat Pack. The expansion also promises to add Ermac, Homelander, Peacemaker, Takahashi Takeda, and Quan Chi to the game, as well as five additional Kameo Fighters.

Omni-Man Has No Alternate Skins and 15 Fewer Mastery Tiers Than Other Mortal Kombat 1 Combatants

That notwithstanding, some fans haven’t been too impressed with thearrival of Omni-Man toMortal Kombat 1, not least because of what they perceive is an overall lack of content accompanying the character. The front page of the game’s largest subreddit has recently featured several heavily upvoted posts criticizing the fact that Omni-Man comes with no alternate skins, one fewer Brutality compared to the characters from the base game, and no place in the game’s seasonal content roadmap. Many players have also taken issue with the fact that Omni-Man only has 20 Mastery Tiers, thus being more in line with the supporting Kameo Fighters than playable combatants who boast 15 and 35 proficiency levels, respectively.

Given that state of affairs, some of the game’s fans have expressed concerns about how NetherRealm will handle the ten DLC characters whom it has yet to release. Others adopted a more optimistic outlook, arguing that there’s still a chance that the developer will treat Omni-Man to additional costumes and other types of content in the future. Although game directorEd Boon habitually teases newMortal Kombat 1featureson social media, there have so far been no indications that NetherRealm was holding back on Omni-Man content and plans to release more of it at a later date.

This polarizing introduction to the Kombat Pack shouldn’t take away from the fact that the base game has been widely lauded as nothing short of an amazing experience. Many fans and critics alike have already praisedMortal Kombat 1for its immense character variety, elaborate combos, and an addictive gameplay loop, among other things. The glowing critical reception only circumvented the Switch version of the game, which was panned for blurry visuals and terrible performance underlined by its extremely long loading times.
