At Sony’s latest PlayStation Showcase event, the long-rumoredMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eaterremake was finally announced alongside theMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1set. TheseMetal Gear Solidgames leakedquite some time ago, but now fans finally have official confirmation.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eateris notable for being the earliest game in theMetal Gear Solidseries timeline-wise. So even though it’s the third numbered entry in the series, it does make some sense to start there if Konami is hoping to remake Hideo Kojima’s games instead of trying to make brand-newMetal Gear Solidexperiences. It remains to be seen just how substantial the differences in theMetal Gear Solid 3remake will be, as the announcement trailer was light on details.

The CG trailer for theMetal Gear Solid 3remake showed Naked Snake sneaking around in the jungle, but didn’t reveal much else beyond that it’s in development for PS5. What may get fans buzzing even more than theMetal Gear Solid 3remake confirmation is the announcement ofMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, which will give fans of the franchise the chance to relive theclassicMetal Gear Solidgames on modern platforms.
While theMetal Gear Solid 3remake has no release date, theMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1set was confirmed for release Autumn 2023. This collection will include theoriginalMetal Gear Solidgame,Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and the original version ofMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Since the announcement happened during the PlayStation Showcase, all fans know for sure is that the collection is coming to PS5, but insiders have suggested that it will also be coming to other platforms like PC and Xbox.
Metal Gear Solidfans are still waiting to learn ifMetal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1is coming to non-PlayStation platforms, but in the meantime, it’s been confirmed that theMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eaterremake will indeed be multi-platform. It’s also been clarified that the game’s official title isMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and it will see the return of the original cast, meaning David Hayter is most likely reprising his role as Snake.
