Mark Hamill, famously known for his work as Luke Skywalker inStar Warsand the Joker in severalBatmanprojects, has agreed that he should play therole of Vesemir in Season 2ofTheWitcher.

The conversation started when showrunner Lauren Hissrich took to Twitter to break down characters' traits, mostly describing ones the Netflix series has yet to introduce in season 1 ofThe Witcher. Hissrich described Vesemir as “Fatherly. Wise. Sprightly,” and of course, “Ancient.” All traits that several fans agreed were befitting of Mark Hamill. Hamill got wind of the conversation and chimed in saying, “I have no idea what this is or what it’s about but agree it could/should be played by me.”

Hamill is no stranger to the realm of video games, having been in severalBatman: Arkhamgames as well asrecently playingFortnitewith Ninja. The conversation happened more than a year ago, so hopefully Hamill has become more acquainted with the series by now. Season 1 ofThe Witcheronly featured a Young Vesemir played by British actor Theo James, best known for his work in the Divergent series. So the role of current day Vesemir is still potentially up for grabs depending on what the series is allowed to do next season.

The ultimate question would be whether or not Netflix can afford theStar WarsA-lister. The reported budget for the recent Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds movie6 Undergroundwas approximately $150 million. The reported budget forThe Witcherseries was about $15 million per episode but may increase in the next season. Meanwhile,The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia has already been a massive success and has become one of Netflix’s highest-rated shows on IMDb which may lead to bigger name casting in season 2.

With Lauren Hissrich at the helm of the series, it’s safe to say the series is in good hands. Hissrich, professionally ‘Lauren Schmidt’, is also known for her work onThe Umbrella Academyand is self-described as a “possibly a Witch(er)” on her Twitter profile. It is incredibly likely that Hissrich saw the Hamill tweet and is doing everything in her power to make the casting happen. There is no word yet on whether Hamill will be joining the cast in season 2 but for now, fans of the series can play asHenry Cavill inThe Witcher IIIas developers have modded him into the game.

The Witcherseason 1 is out now on Netflix, andThe Witcher IIIis available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
