Lokiseason 2has addedGame of Thronesstar Kate Dickie to the cast alongside leading man Tom Hiddleston and others. The news comes late in the production cycle for the highly anticipated follow-up season.
The Disney Plus showLokifollows the adventures and mishaps of the titular character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the show’s first season, an alternate version of Loki finds himself at the mercy of the Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic temporal law enforcement agency intent on punishing him for his misuse of the Tessaract unless he helps the organization repair the time stream and serve some greater good. The series was praised with an emphasis on the performances and helped to flesh out the character of Loki, one of theMCU characters who have changed the mostsince his introduction.

A report fromDeadlinerevealed that actress Dickie joined the cast ofLokiseason 2 with little fanfare to tip off fans to the addition. Dickie is best known in recent times for her portrayal of crazed widow Lysa Arynn in HBO’s ultra-successfulGame of Thronesseries, which spawned an equallywell-recieved successor inHouse of the Dragon. While precious little is known about the second season ofLokiand Dickie’s role specifically, it is reported that she will be playing a villain.
Production has mostly concluded onLokiseason 2, which features Tara Strong, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Eugene Cordero, and Rafael Casal. They join Hiddleston andThe Good Place’s Eugene Cordero, who has been promoted to series regular for the second season. The second season is headed up by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who both take on the role of directors and executive producers alongside head writer Eric Martin, with Michael Waldron and Hiddleston also working on the writing.
The inclusion of Dickie in the cast is exciting for fans, more so because she has shown a talent for playing a character who audiences can hate while still maintaining depth and a certain measure of compassion within the viewing audience. Depending on the endpoint of the show’s second season, there might even be a big screen appearance on the cards for Dickie, asLokifits quite well within Phase FIve’s multiverse theme. However, this might not play out well, as there is a chance thatMarvel Studios might have trouble integrating TV characters into movies.
