Among the many horrors waiting for players inLethal Companyare Dramatic Masks. Two types of masks, known as the Tragedy and Comedy masks, were added inLethal Company’s version 45. Similarto other Scrap items, players can find both kinds of Dramatic Masks when exploring the abandoned, industrialized moons.
It is rumored that the masks were inspired by SCP-035, a white porcelain comedy mask that can change to tragedy at times. Tragedy and Comedy masks are iconic symbols associated with the performing arts and theater. While they can simplysell Dramatic Masks for profit, players often wonder what else the Tragedy and Comedy masks are capable of.
What Do Tragedy and Comedy Masks Do
Both Tragedy and Comedy Masks essentially have the same function and can be sold to The Company for profit. Their sell value ranges from anywhere between28 and 50 credits. Anyone who finds a mask can pick it up and wear it by pressing the left mouse button.
If the player chooses to wear the mask, there is a65% chancethe mask will possess them and turn them into a Masked entity. Even simply holding the mask for a prolonged time can cause the player to become possessed by it. The time allowed to hold a mask varies; the Tragedy Mask possesses players faster than the Comedy variant. Once possessed, players can not drop or remove the mask from their faces and only havefive secondsto live.
There’s a slim chance that players can surviveif they teleport themselveswithin five seconds of wearing the mask. However, if they’re killed during the transformation, players will not reanimate.
When possessing someone, the mask’s eyes will start glowing red. A few seconds later, the player will die and turn into The Masked. Dramatic Masks are the first scrap item to directly kill a player and turn them into another Entity,without help from other crewmates.
Wearing a Dramatic Mask on the Company’s base will instantly kill the player instead of converting them into a Masked mimic.
The Masked entities mimic normal player behavior, but once they spot another teammate, they will hunt them down relentlessly. Once they catch the player, The Masked will spew blood onto the caught player, effectively killing them and turning them into a new Masked. This could lead to disastrous consequences for the whole team.
To defend themselves, players can hit the Masked repeatedly using ashovel. Other crewmates can also freely attack the Masked without worrying about a sudden target change.
