The gameKena: Bridge of Spiritsis a story-driven, action-adventure game developed by Ember Labs and releasing on the PS4 and PS5. Recently, the developer had to reaffirm thatKena’sdelayed PS5 releaseis still set for early Q1 in 2021.
A tweet by Ember Labs, in response to the DualShockers Twitter account, corrected an issue on Sony’s site that impliedKena: Bridge of Spiritswould release in Q4 of 2021. The developer stated thatKenais on track to release in Q1 2021, and cordially thanked people for their support.

The game was originally slated for a holiday 2020 release as amajor PS5 launch title. However, the game ended up being delayed early next year, largely because of the difficulties of working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. The official PlayStation Website incorrectly listing the game set for release in Q4 2021 led to plenty of people speculating that there would be further delays for the game, until Ember Labs provided clarification on Twitter.
The website has since removed the incorrect release date and now reads, “To be confirmed,” though when it will be updated remains to be seen.Kena: Bridge of Spiritsstill doesn’t have an official release date, but the ballpark of its release isn’t too far away. In the meantime, Ember Labs has been far from inactive in addressing moregameplay details aboutKenaofficially and on social media.
When the game was first announced at the June 2020 PS5 reveal event, many enjoyedKena’sZeldaandPikminlook, but wanted more details. A few days later, developers from Ember Labs elaborated on the game’s core gameplay, tone, and companions in a video from the Future Game Show. Ember Labs has continued to keep players up to date on the game through its social media, and even had a Q&A on November 11 with the game’s creative director.
Fans will still have to wait until next year for the game to be released, butKenafans can expect Ember Labs to keep them up to date on its status. The developer has demonstrated itself to be responsive and active with the game’s fans and community, and will likely be the first to announce the game’s official release date. It’s reassuring that players won’t have to wait till Q4 of 2021 forKena: Bridge of Spirits’release, as the release calendar for the next few months is bare enough as it is.
