While its story remains simplistic, the gameplay is very intricate and detailed and will keep players entertained beyond the main story with post-game content and secrets to find. One of those things is an entire secret area that’s completely optional inSuper Mario RPG.
In the Bean Valley area, fans will eventually come across a set of Warp Pipes withPiranha Plantswith legs growing out of them. With the help of a Beezo, these Chewys end up growing into monsters the party can fight to clear the path down into the pipe. One of these pipes has a golden Chain Chomp inside of it, and this particular Chomp Chomp holds the secret on how to get a special casino with mini-games that can net players all sorts of items, if fans know how to get there down to the finest detail.

How to Get to Grate Guy’s Casino in Super Mario RPG
Players can only visit Grate Guy’s Casino after defeating the boss Booster’s Tower. After beating the two clowns that protected the top of the building, they will go their separate ways. Knife Guy will stay in the tower and Mario can play a small game with him about guessing which hand holds a yellow ball after he juggles it. After playing the game enough times, eventually Knife Guy will reward Mario with a Bright Card, which is the entry card to the casino. From there, fans need to find the Warp Pipe,defeat the Chain Chomp, and then jump three times in the corner nearby.
In the second bed at the inn in Nimbus Land, a sleeping Toad mumbles about how tired he is after looking for the casino. He’s holding a leaflet Mario can read for simplistic instructions on how to get there, but all the information like how to get the Bright Card isn’t shared on the leaflet.
Although the idea of a secret casino is rather exciting, there are numerous snags that might make finding the location feel more like a chore than anything fun. Firstly, finding Knife Guy inBooster Towertakes some guesswork if fans don’t already know he’s there, and even after that, players can easily end up playing his juggling game over ten times just to get the Bright Card eventually. Then it’s a matter of finding the Warp Pipe and even jumping in the right spot.
Once fans manage to make their way to Grate Guy’s Casino, they may be disappointed to discover that the location only offers three mini-games: treasure chest slots, “Look the Other Way” with Grate Guy, and a card-flipping Memory Game. While these mini-games make it possible for fans to get good items if they win, it’s a bit disappointing when the idea of a casino in theFinal Fantasy-inspiredSuper Mario RPGmay make them think it’s aMario-style Gold Saucer.
Players may be rather disappointed with the simplistic nature of the secret casino, but on the other hand,Super Mario RPGalready offers tons of contentfor a 27-year-old SNES game. Where Grate Guy’s new location might not have too much to offer, there are plenty of other mini-games that offer items and coins that are perfectly replayable such as the Midas River and Yoshi’s races. Even if players decide the casino isn’t worth the fuss, there’s still other things to do.
