Summary
For the second half of Version 2.1,Honkai: Star Railreleased Tides of War, a limited-time event that tests players' combat and strategizing skills. This is one of many events that debuted inHonkai: Star RailVersion 2.1, which aims to help players in farming Stellar Jades and upgrade materials for characters.
Tides of War is essentially a mini-fighting game developed by a researcher from theHerta Space Station’s maintenance department. Inspired by his vacation in Penacony, he uses a Memory Bubble to be the platform for Tides of War and invites the Trailblazer to test out all six combat stages.
Honkai: Star Rail’s Tides of War Offers a Wide Range of Challenges
Just like previousHonkai: Star Railevents with combat challenges such as theBoulder Town Super League, Tides of War unlocks one combat stage per day. Each one challenges players to battle three boss enemies in three waves within six cycles, while also accumulating Grit Value to activate additional Support Functions.
Tides of War has a total of six stages that have different challenges to accumulate Grit Value and complete Grit Phases. Plus,Honkai: Star Railfans get a choice to play powerful trial characters who can help farm Grit Value, through actions like killingWarp Trottersand dealing Overflow DMG. Players are also free to use their own characters in these challenges.
The goal ofHonkai: Star Rail’s Tides of War is simple: defeat all three bosses within six cycles and reach Grit Phase 4. Once done, they can claim limited-time rewards, such asStellar Jadesand Trace Materials. If players successfully complete these goals, they also get a chance to receive S-grade results.
Stage 1: Trotter Effect
Defeat Warp Trotters to accumulate a large amount of Grit Value. Tral characters:Acheron, Black Swan, Kafka, Gallagher, and Pela
Stage 2: Perilous Threshold
Each time an ally’s current HP is increased or decreased, they accumulate Grit Value. Tral characters: Blade, Jingliu, Bronya, Luocha, and Lynx
Stage 3:Supreme Leader
When the ally positioned first in the Team Setup successfully uses their Ultimate, they accumulate a large amount of Grit Value. Tral characters:Imbibitor Lunae, Argenti, Sparkle, Huohuo, and Tingyun
Stage 4: Weakness Assault
Break enemies' Weakness or attack Weakness Broken enemies to accumulate Grit Value. Tral characters: Ruan Mei, Himeko, Silver Wolf, Lynx, and Xueyi
Stage 5: Overflowing Wounds
Accumulate a large amount of Grit Value whenever they defeat an enemy and deal Overflow DMG. Tral characters: Seele, Jing Yuan, Fu Xuan, Sparkle, and Tingyun
Stage 6: Perpetual Exploit
Performing follow-up actions can earn extra Grit Value. Tral characters:Aventurine, Dr. Ratio, Topaz, and Hanya
How Tides of War Stands Out From Other Honkai: Star Rail Events
Honkai: Star Railhas done a great job so far developing limited-time events that add more fun to farming Stellar Jades and other materials. With Tides of War,Honkai: Star Railintroduced the concept of Grit Value and Grit Phases to buff characters' stats and elevateHonkai: Star Rail’s combat experience in some way.
While the Grit mechanic won’t likely make its way toHonkai: Star Rail’s regular combat, it’s still possible for the game to bring it back if it plans to do a second run of Tides of War in the future. With new combat features likeHonkai: Star Rail’s new toughness mechanicand reported new damage type on the horizon, the next edition of Tides of War could bring more exciting challenges forHonkai: Star Railfans.
