Summary
Although the wait forHollow Knight: Silksongrecently surpassed five years, the passionate fan base remains eager for any news on the upcoming title. Considering that the indie studio is composed of a three-person team, it’s expected that development could take a while. Still, with expectations high from the immense success ofHollow Knight: Silksong’s predecessor, a lot is riding on the sequel’s shoulders.
IfSilksong’s release datecontinues to be postponed from the original early 2023 window, this could give Team Cherry more time to continue enhancing the game’s narrative. Additionally, it could be incredibly interesting if the studio decided to implement a few features from the originalHollow Knight. For instance, the Mantis Lord’s fight in Mantis Village is not only an iconic part of The Knight’s journey, but it has distinctive elements that could be easily mimicked in the sequel.

Silksong Can Learn From Hollow Knight’s Success
The Mantis Lords Fight is An Iconic Part of Hollow Knight
A direct return of the Mantis Lords inSilksongcould be intriguing, but Team Cherry could find even greater potential in exploring the foundations of this fight. Interestingly, this boss encounter is the first inHollow Knightthat features more than one enemy at a time. As such, whiledefeating the Mantis Lordsmay have been difficult in the first playthrough, the fight has quickly established itself as one of the most satisfying battles in the game.
With charms equipped that allow players to wall climb and dash, the confrontation with the Mantis Lords could be described as more of a dance than anything else. Striking the creatures with the nail while avoiding taking too much damage is of the utmost importance, which means that pattern recognition becomes vital at this stage. Combined with the iconic theme composed by Christopher Larkin, the Mantis Lords battle is truly unforgettable.

A Battle Similar to the Mantis Lords Makes Complete Sense For Silksong
With hopes high thatSilksongwill feature boss fights as challenging as the 2017 title, it would make sense for Team Cherry to borrow elements from the Mantis Lords. After finishing the Mantis Lords challenge, players gain the respect of the tribe on top of access to theMark of Pride charm. As players travel back through the Mantis Village, they’ll notice the enemy Mantis Warriors are no longer trying to attack them. Instead, they lower their heads and perform a respectful bow as The Knight passes by. This attribute even extends to the three Mantis Lord sisters, who will stand up from their thrones and bow.
Attacking a bowing Mantis Warrior will still trigger an attack.
Silksongcould lean heavily on this concept of changing an environment after the player completes a boss battle. This could be a minute or major change, depending on the direction of Hornet’s narrative. Since the community is already aware that Hornet will be journeying through themassive world of Pharloom, it seems that her adventure is likely to be quite different from that of The Knight’s.
InHollow Knight, some environments subtly shifted after defeating a boss, though these changes weren’t necessarily tied to victory itself. Perhaps Hornet can earn a reward similar to earningthe Mantis Village’s respectin a hard-earned fight of her own. InSilksong, this could mimic the original game by being a fight that’s crucial to both her journey and narrative. Whether Team Cherry has considered this specific concept remains to be seen, but the potential is intriguing to consider.
