There are 34 different spells for players to learn, use, and master inHogwarts Legacy, but players can get by most of the game with just the basics. The Summoning Charm is an incredibly simple spell, and althoughAccio works differently than it did in the movies, it is one that will prove useful to players throughout the entirety of their time with the game. As such, players should make it a priority to learn this spell as soon as possible.

Most spells inHogwarts Legacyrequire players to progress through the story a certain amount and complete a particular quest to learn them. After doing all of this, players will then be required to complete a small minigame to officially learn the spell. Each spell is unlocked at different points in the story, but Accio is learned rather early on.

Attend Charms Class

Accio is learned inCharms Class on the player’s very first day in Hogwartsand is required in order to progress through the story. Most players will already learn Accio as part of simply playing the game, but those that have gotten swept away with exploring the castle may need a little guidance. Once the player is able to freely roam the castle, head to the Charms Classroom in the Defence Against the Dark Arts Tower. Players having trouble finding it can track the quest in their Field Guide and use the Enchanted Compass to get there easily.

Learning Accio

After a short cutscene, theCharms teacher at Hogwarts, Professor Ronenwill teach the player Accio. Follow the pattern and press the appropriate buttons at the right time and players should have no issue learning Accio. The spell can then immediately be set onto any of the four slots on the player’s spell set and used freely when outside of combat. During combat, players should be aware that Accio does have a short cooldown.

How to Use Accio

Accio has a number of uses that players will want to familiarize themselves with. When used on an enemy, it will pull that enemy directly towards the player and hold them in the air for a moment. This leaves them open to basic casts or other spells and helps to reposition enemies. Accio can also be used on objects, allowing players to drag objects closer towards them. This can be useful both for solving puzzles and for playing Summoner’s Court inHogwarts Legacy. Finally, players will occasionally come acrossfield guide pages that are flying out of reach. Accio can be used to pull them closer and collect the pages.

Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are scheduled to release on April 4; the Nintendo Switch version is arriving on June 14, 2025.
