Maintaining the stealthy feature from previousCall of Dutytitles, aCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2player has discovered a hilarious “rare” takedown animation. Because there are players that have unlocked impressiveCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2takedowns through in-game purchases, there are a few different animations that may unfold when a takedown occurs, with one that may not function as planned.

Takedowns were introduced toCall of Dutyin the campaigns of the firstBlack Ops,Modern Warfare 3, andGhostsbefore migrating to multiplayer modes inCall of Duty: WW2and more recently,Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. In the World War 2 title, takedowns were modified to be available in multiplayer wheneverCall of Dutyfans are able to sneak up on their foes without being seen and execute a melee attack on them. LikeCall of Duty: Modern Warfare2019 before it,Modern Warfare 2maintains the takedown ability, which has caused some sudden, often surprising deaths - with one particularly hilarious assault highlighting what may be the rarest of the possible animations.

Reddit user KraljStefan96 has garnered 1,300 upvotes on a post in which they’re participating in aCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayermatch and are about to eliminate an enemy using stealth and melee. Jumping over the prone enemy who might have caught a glimpse of their movement, KraljStefan96 quickly turns and initiates an incredibly rare takedown that appears glitched. The takedown proceeds to show two t-posingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2soldiers, with KraljStefan96’s character moving very stiffly behind the other who is killed and slides down rather quickly without any clear cause of death.

KraljStefan96’s character t-poses a few feet behind their opponent in theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2takedown, and a sound effect and UI changes show that the onslaught was successful. TheCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2player gets credit for killing the prone enemy as the takedown concludes, but KraljStefan96 circles around the site of impact, which could be attributed to confusion over what just happened. Given that KraljStefan96 hasn’t commented more on the rare and strange highlight, it’s currently unclear if the player was able to re-create the glitch like how players have been able to replicate similarCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2issuesthat have already been fixed.

BecauseCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2melee attacksfrom behind don’t always result in an animation, the game may have been confused on what to do in KraljStefan96’s clip, which can result in hiccups like the two t-posing soldiers. Although theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2takedown doesn’t happen often, other fans have also stated that they’ve received the same animation for their own stealthy barrages.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
