However, purplegion used Discord’s “everyone” tag when issuing the warning, alerting nearly 126,000 members of the server all at once. Thousands of users ignored the warning and began to spam “F” messages across multiple channels, prompting community manager Spitz to step in and temporarily shut down server activity from all users outside the moderating team.
