Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer was blown away by theFalloutTV show’s reveal. Its trailer was released on December 2 and hasFalloutfans everywhere excited.
TheFalloutTV show’s trailerrevealed its premise, as well as various characters and settings. The series will follow Lucy, a vault dweller who ventures intoFallout’s apocalyptic wasteland, where she must adapt to its harsh conditions or die. The trailer proved to fans that the TV show would accurately representFallout’s atmosphere and signature humor. During an interview at CCXP23,Phil Spencer explainedthat he was “blown away” by the show’s reveal, and said that its production crew has done an amazing job at capturing the brutality of theFalloutuniverse, as well as its style of humor and tinge of melancholy. Video game adaptations on TV haven’t always fared well, so someFalloutfans were worried that this series might suffer the same fate, but the show’s trailer quickly put those worries to rest. In addition to faithfully recreating theFalloutgames' feel, fans were also happy to learn that the show’s storytakes place withinFallout’s established timeline, and is considered canon. Its main setting is post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, nine years after the events ofFallout 4. This marksFallout’s first return to Los Angeles sinceFallout1, released in 1997. Other than the show’s protagonist, Lucy, the show also seems to feature a ghoul bounty hunter as a major character, played by Walter Goggins. TheFalloutshow also features other recognizable aspects from the games, like the Brotherhood of Steel.
Todd Howard, one of the creative minds behind theFalloutgames, is serving as an executive producer on theFalloutTV show. He seems to be very satisfied with how it’s turned out, evencomparing theFalloutshow to a futureFallout 5. He doesn’t mean that the show will replace the next game in the series, but rather that the show is so well made and true to its source material that it could have.
Fallout 76just received a major update inits Atlantic City expansion. The expansion’s first part, Boardwalk Paradise, released on December 5, and its second part, America’s Playground, releases in March 2024. Boardwalk Paradise allows players to explore a post-apocalyptic Atlantic City, where they can take part in various quests.
