Fans will get a chance to revisit the magical world of Hogwarts once again when theHarry Potterreunion special arrives on HBO Max this New Year’s Day. Since news of the reunion broke, fans have been looking forward to seeing the three main stars of the film, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, reprise their iconic roles from the franchise. Now, the streamer has just revealed the first photo of the trio from the upcoming special.
In a still shared on Twitter, HBO Max offered fans the first look at the three main characters from theHarry Potterfranchise in the upcoming specialHarry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.Radcliffe’s Harry Potter, Watson’s Hermione Granger, and Grint’s Ron Weasley are seen sharing a laugh as they sit in the Gryffindor Common Room at Hogwarts.

The image will take fans of the franchise back 20 years whenHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stonewas released and the young wizards walked into the same room for the first time. The caption for the HBO Max image perfectly captures the essence of the image, “Like they never left.” Seeing the three actors on set once again has led to many fans reminiscing over their roles in the original films.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the release ofHarry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, HBO Max has decided to bring the cast back together for a reunion special. The firstteaser trailer for the Harry Potterreunion specialwas released earlier this week, with invitations to Hogwarts being sent out to many of the cast members. The three main stars did not feature in the trailer and fans were looking forward to seeing their official look in the special.
Apart from them, the special will also featureHelena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Lewis, and Evanna Lynch. The special will include interviews with the cast members and a “magical first-person journey” through the films.
Based on the extremely popular books by J.K. Rowling,theHarry Potterfilmswent on to become a mega-hit franchise. The eighth and final film in the franchise, 2011’sHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part II, was the highest earner and made $1.34 billion on the global box office. The popularity could be attributed to the fact that it was bringing a decade-long saga to an end. The entire series was well-received by audiences and earned a total of $7.73 billion globally.
