Polyphony Digital revealed the three new cars coming withGran Turismo 7’s next update later today. The update also givesGran Turismo 7two new tracks set in California and Tokyo.
Released in March,Gran Turismo 7is the latest installment in the long-running racing series. Sold as a “Love letter to car culture,” the game includes over 400 cars from various manufacturers and time periods. However, its developers also attracted controversy forGran Turismo 7’s excessive microtransactionsand post-launch changes.

Gran Turismo7’s Update 1.23 goes live at 11 PM Pacific on September 28/2 AM Eastern on September 29. It introduces the Volkswagen ID.R ’19, Nissan Silvia K’s Type S, and Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Spyder as three new cars for players to collect. Meanwhile, the Yosemite National Park and Sakurada-dori Scapes giveGran Turismo 7playerstwo new environments to test them out in.
A prototype fully-electric race car, the Volkswagen ID.R ’19 features a carbon-fiber frame and dual motor four-wheel drive. Featuring extended wings to maximize downforce, its reduced weight and powerful motors make ID.R ’19 a match for any of the combustion-poweredvehicles inGran Turismo 7. The real-life car set two hill climb records and one for the fastest lap speed by an electric vehicle.
Meanwhile, the Nissan Silvia K’s Type S (S14) ’94 isn’t quite as state-of-the-art but still brings plenty to the table. The new car is noticeably larger than theNissan S13 that’s already available inGran Turismo 7. Developers also note how the design of the car’s body makes its width even more noticeable than it would be otherwise. Meanwhile, its inter-cooled turbocharger provides a noticeable boost to horsepower, and the car features an optional electronic rear-wheel steering system.
Finally, the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Spyder is a futuristic design with a unique visual aesthetic. It draws inspiration from classic Porsche, its record-breaking 919 Hybrid, and the German manufacturer’s Taycan electric sports car. The result is a lightweight, hi-performance electric sports car with a powerful dual electric engine layout and innovative aerodynamic design. Developers say that it is ideally suited for tracks likeGran Turismo 7’s Nürburgring Nordschleife and twisting mountain roads.
Speaking of mountain roads, the new Yosemite National Park track certainly fits that description. Located in the Sierra Nevada mountains of eastern California, developers describe it as a “paradise of diverse flora and fauna.” Players will race through stunning natural valleys as they navigate the high-altitude roads. Meanwhile, the new Sakurada-dori track takesGran Turismo 7players to the heart of central Tokyo. Players will soon be able to race down the city streets in the shadow of the iconic Tokyo Tower.
