Gamescom Opening Night Live debuted brand new trailers for several highly anticipated or never-before-seen games, includingHogwarts Legacyand details about its story,Sonic Frontiersand its release date,Lies of P’s game pass release,Moving Out 2, Scars Above, and many, many more. It was confirmed to be there prior to the showcase, butGotham Knightsalso showed up in a big way.

Gotham Knightsis set to release in October and puts fans into the shoes of Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood, with just about every aspect of its marketing so far being focused on these characters. Many hoped to see somenew villains forGotham Knightsat Gamescom, and host Geoff Keighley and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive delivered on that, plus a little more.

Appropriately dubbed theGotham KnightsVillain trailer (seen below), it gave fans a new look at already confirmed villains Mr. Freeze and the Court of Owls, but it also revealed two more: the criminal “influencer” Harley Quinn and the shapeshifting Clayface. Harley Quinn is definitely a slightly different take than other iterations of the villain, but Clayface looks interesting from a graphic and gameplay point of view. Certainly, there are more villains than this, but it seems fans will have to wait before they learn more.

And that wait has been reduced slightly. Originally slated to release on October 25,Gotham Knights’release datehas been changed and moved up to October 21, giving fans the game four days earlier. It’s not quite clear as to why this decision was made though. On the one hand, it could be because of logistics sinceGotham Knightshas gone gold, or perhaps it could do something with the timing. On October 28,Bayonetta 3, Modern Warfare 2, Resident Evil Re:Verse, andResident Evil Village’s Winters Expansion are all set to release. This gives fans more of a week to enjoy Gotham City before something else potentially steals them away.

Still, since fans are more used to delays nowadays than release dates being moved forward, it’s a nice touch to thereveals at Gamescom. With a couple of months to go before release though, fans can expect Warner Bros. to reveal more trailers and other new details. For many, it’ll be interesting to see what other villains make their appearance in the game.

Gotham Knightsis set to release on August 05, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
