Reddit user DocRobinly decided to revisitGod of War: Ghost of Spartaand noticed that one of the weapons looked identical to the final weapon Kratos receives inGod of War Ragnarok. In a video uploaded online, Kratos can be seen wielding a throwable spear with red energy around it. The weapon is very similar to the spear received inGod of War Ragnarok, just without the wind abilities.
Other Reddit users discussed the callbacks made inGod of War Ragnarokto reference the spear specifically. One user pointed out the scene whereKratos receives the Draupnir Spear inGod of War Ragnarokand how Brok is initially shocked by how skilled Kratos was at wielding the weapon. Kratos then tells Brok that, as a Spartan, the spear is one of the first weapons they master. According to another Reddit user, the director had actually used that weapon as influence for the spear used inGod of War Ragnarok.
Moments like this are exactly why fans considerGod of War Ragnarokthe magnum opus for theGod of Warfranchise. The game has so many references to the previous games, never neglecting or abandoning any of the prior story events, and even mentions other appearances Kratos has made in PlayStation titles. It also appears that the expanded lore of the series will continue to built on. Amazon recently confirmed rumors that aGod of WarTV series is in development. WithGod of War Ragnarokbeing the fastest selling entry in the series it seems like a perfect time for the series to get a TV series adaptation to add more to the lore of the franchise.
God of War Ragnarokis out now for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
