According to credible leaks,Genshin Impactis overhauling its party setup screen, a feature that many players felt was becoming outdated compared to other parts of the game. The party selection screen forHonkai: Star Rail’s charactershas been widely praised by fans as being an upgrade over the version fromGenshin Impact, boasting better angles and presentation. ThoughHonkai: Star Railis a newer game, theGenshin Impactcommunity has been hoping that HoYoverse wouldn’t abandon its fundamental aspects in favor of prioritizing new content.
One of the biggest points of contention for fans has been the inability to play through the pastGenshin Impactupdatesand the respective events. Though there’s a long way to go for HoYoverse to implement the ability to replay completed story quests or undertake retired flagship events, the developers have hinted that this was a feature they were working on behind-the-scenes. By comparison, touching up the party setup inGenshin Impactis a much more manageable endeavor, and players can expect to see it implemented during the Fontaine chapter.

Posted on theGenshin ImpactLeaks subreddit, a user named vivliz gathered the latestGenshin Impactinformation from credible sources, offering players a glimpse into what’s coming in Version 4.0 and beyond. As expected, Fontaine will bring a new set of Artifacts and new Battle Pass weapons, and fans have even gotten a look atLyney’s complete ability kitin the most recent batch of leaks. However, perhaps the most exciting surprise has been the party setup overhaul. Team selection in Fontaine will now be a lot more dynamic, as character will join through unique animations such as Nahida showing up on a swing, Zhogli slowly turning around, or Kazuha sheathing his katana.
This feature is coming to Update 4.0 ofGenshin Impact, although leakers are warning people to temper their expectations, as not all characters will have these unique animations from the get-go. Both 4-Star and 5-Star characters are expected to have unique animations, which means that HoYoverse will likely not discriminate by rarity. Buried in all the leaks has also been the possibility for a fan-favorite Liyue character to finally become playable: Cloud Retainer.
The adoptive mother of Shenhe andGanyu inGenshin Impact, Cloud Retainer’s human form was glimpsed by players during the most recent Lantern Rite event, and it is heavily rumored that she is competing with the leaked Lion Dance Boy for the featured character spot in Version 4.4. Furthermore, fans can expect to see an expansion of Sumeru and Mondstadt over the course of the upcoming year, as HoYoverse will attempt to strike a balance between overhauling old systems and providing new content. Thankfully,Genshin Impactplayers won’t have to wait long to get the new party setup screen.
Genshin Impactis available on PC, Mobile, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
