Co-op mode is a part of the game that is widely used for its ease of use and its innovativesolutions to harder domainsand bosses. Yet, manyGenshin Impactplayers make huge mistakes, which can make playing in multiplayer mode tedious. Here are some of the best tips for new players looking to master multiplayer mode.

Updated September 2nd, 2021 by Russ Boswell:Genshin Impact is still going strong since its release, with developers adding loads of content as quickly as possible to the epic open-world adventure. There have been new characters, new events, new things to discover, and even the introduction of player housing. With all there is to see and do, players are encouraged now more than ever to join their friends and make new ones inGenshin Impact multiplayer. To get a better grip on the cooperative scene and what new players can expect, the following list has been updated with additional tips.

14Be Leery Of Resource Thieves

Although Genshin Impact’s multiplayer seems limited in spots, players are free to journey across the overworld map with friends (or even strangers that may become friends). Players that join into a multiplayer session will not be able to open any treasure chests or take certain collectible items like Anemoculus. That said, they will be able to farm available resources from the map. Things like ore, vegetables, and other materials can be snagged by anyone. Since these resources must recharge, it’s important to make sure that players don’t invite any “would be thieves” into their worlds that are simply looking to stock up without having to wait.

13Keep Track Of What You Can’t Do

Although the cooperative mode in Genshin Impact is a blast, there are certain things players won’t have access to whenever they join a multiplayer session. Story missions, quests, and the Spiral Abyss are all off-limits, which can be disappointing to some that are looking to tackle things together with a party. Players will still be able to fight world bosses, collect items, farm monsters, and complete Domains. Having friends around for these monotonous tasks can make them much more entertaining.

12Have A Few Strong Characters Ready

One of the interesting things about Cooperative Mode is how characters are handled. If a player joins a world with one other person, both the host and the player will have access to two characters each. The more people there are, the fewer characters everyone gets to choose from. This can be vital when entering servers with multiple people as it limits a player’s characters. Having only one strong character can result in headaches when joining multiplayer. Dedicated coop players will want to carry at least a few strong characters so they can switch and swap freely when needed.

11Visit A Friend’s Serenitea Pot

The 1.5 update for Genshin Impact introduced a neat mechanic known as the Serenitea Pot. This nifty item gives players access to their very own housing, which can be set up with a variety of furnishings and decorated to their heart’s content. The best part is that friends can actually visit a player’s housing but clicking on their profile image in the friends list and then going down to the “Request to visit Serenitea Pot” button. It’s fun to see how other players have decorated their housing.

10Use The Chat

Communication is everything in team-based tactics games. Thus, teamwork will make playingGenshin Impacteasier. While it’s easy to coordinate elemental reactions and strategies in solo mode, the same cannot be said about multiplayer.

After all, multiplayer mode requires players to talk to others, which isn’t always possible with online players. Yet, many new and old players forget the biggest component of multiplayer: the chatbox. Located on the lower left-hand side of the screen, this is where gamers can talk strategy (and maybe justmake a few friends.)

9Be The Healer

Nobody seems to like being the healer in roleplaying games. ThoughGenshin Impactis a little different due to itslarge roster of healers, these characters still tend to be weaker and more vulnerable. However, they are important, and especially so inGenshin Impact’smultiplayer mode.

While solo mode can rely on food for healing, it may not always be an option in the real-time world of multiplayer. Choosing to be a healer will help endear the player to their team, while heavily increasing the player’s odds against harder opponents.

8Be A Different Character Than Normal

Everybody wants to be their favorite character. Players spend hours on end building and grinding, so it’s only natural to be a little defensive. However, this can pose problems when two players want to play the same character.

In these situations, it’s best to just switch to a different character (or at least have a backup in mind.) After all, this may just give the player a new experience and even a new favorite, all while mitigating any conflicts.

7Become Friends

Online gamers all know the experience. Clicking on countless player profiles to join their game, it seems like nobody will accept a new player. That said, players often forget the number one way of getting around this issue: the friend button.

Joining a friend’s world is a lot easier than joining a stranger’s, so players are heavily advised to befriend others. Not to mention, it’s not uncommon for miHoYo to release events that offer benefits to people with friends in-game, such as in the case ofVishaps and Where to Find Them.

6Choose Your Character Carefully

Once again, it can be tempting forGenshin Impactplayers to choose their favorite character each time. That said, multiplayer matches don’t have aset team compositionlike in solo mode. This means that putting thought into picking one’s character can go a long way.

Players are advised to take into consideration the characters that their teammates choose, as well as their damage types and elements. Being stuck with a team of only Electro characters doesn’t help with beating bosses, so plan accordingly.

5Don’t Rush Into A Match

Coordinating a group of people can be difficult, even if it is just an extra person. Not everybody is decisive, and planning for adifficult battle with Andriustakes a lot of thought. Type immunities, general resistance to attacks, character level, etc. all need to be taken into account.

The worst thing a player can do in co-op mode is to make a stressful experience for their teammates. This can lead to rash decisions that they may not be comfortable with. Players will find that make a comfortable, patient environment from the get-go (introducing themselves through the chat, for example) makes for better teamwork and more thorough planning later on.
