After receiving multiple most anticipated game awards and rocketing to the #1 most wishlisted game on Steam,Elden Ringsales show the game is living up to the hype. Reviews also point towardsElden Ringbeing a success, with many players and critics calling it a potential Game of the Year nominee already.

However, no game is without flaw, and such is the case withElden Ring. Since launch, performance issues have lead topoorElden Ringreviews; problems such as corrupted save files, massive frame drops, and network issues have affected many players, causing some to be frustrated with the game.

Considering that FromSoftware has already released anElden Ringpatch to address performance issues, the hope among players is that these troubles will become a problem of the past. However, these issues are not the only ones affecting players; as with most open-world games,Elden Ringalso holds its fair share of bugs and glitches.

For example, Reddit user iiElectricAvenue captured the moment that a glitch involvingElden Ring’s horse Torrent caused their untimely death. In the clip, iiElectricAvenue is simply killing enemies and looting them before attempting to jump on Torrent. However, when iiElectricAvenue hops on, Torrent rides off without them and disappears, leaving iiElectricAvenue stuck in midair unable to move. To add further injury to the insult, a nearby flower enemy attacks iiElectricAvenue with magic, killing them. Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident, as theElden Ringinvisible horse glitchis a well-known problem.

While some bugs and glitches in games can be funny or enjoyable, issues like this one leave the player feeling completely helpless and frustrated. In this situation, iiElectricAvenue had zero control over the outcome; Torrent caused iiElectricAvenue to become completely stuck with no hope of escape as a ranged enemy took them down from afar. Much like theElden Ringteleporting backstab glitch, iiElectricAvenue was punished simply for playing the game, making for an frustrating experience.

FromSoftware has carved out its own piece of the gaming industry over time due to the frustrating yet incredibly rewarding experiences they offer. However, in the case of bugs and glitches, rarely is the player rewarded in the experience. Instead, much like in iiElectricAvenue’s case, the player is left at the mercy of the game, having been punished for performing an action as simple as attempting to ride their horse. Considering there are multiple documented cases of this glitch, hopefully FromSoftware will fix the problem soon.

Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
