Over the last six years,Fortnitehas managed to gradually establish itself as the hub of all things pop-culture. What started as just a brief crossover withAvengers Infinity Warhas led to countless crossover skins and events stretching across the entire pop-culture world, fromanimes likeDragon BallandMy Hero Academiato movie franchises likeStar Warsand DC to even other video game properties likeHaloandDead Space. ButFortnitehas one little problem when it comes to its selection of PlayStation skins, and that’s inconsistency.
Slowly, bit by bit,Fortnitehas added more and more gaming-related skins, coming under the category of “Gaming Legends.” These skins cover a wide range of different platforms and genres, includingfighting games likeStreet Fighter, horror titles likeResident Evil, and action-adventures likeAssassin’s Creed. But whileFortnite’s Item Shop is refreshed on a daily basis, these gaming skins are very rarely included on the roster, and it’s about time that was changed.

Fortnite’s PlayStation Character Support Could Be Better
It’s often the case with aFortnitecrossover skin that it comes to the game, stays for a few days, and then disappears again for a few months. But when it comes to crossover skins likeMarvel, DC, orStar Wars, these tend to see a fairly consistent rotation, with fans knowing that if they miss them on the first round, then they’ll see them again in a few months' time.Fortnite’s gaming skins aren’t quite as reliable.
Just last week,Horizon Zero DawnandForbidden West’s Aloyreturned toFortnitefor a limited time. Aloy was first added toFortniteall the way back in April 2021, and she stayed in the game for a surprising amount of time, cropping up every month or so until June 2021. Then Aloy disappeared for an entire year, only coming back in February 2022. A similar thing has just happened, with Aloy making her most recent return another entire year later.
This is unfortunately a fairly common problem withFortnite’s Gaming Legends skins, and in particular, its PlayStation crossover cosmetics.God of War’s Kratos is the biggest example of this issue. Kratos was originally added toFortniteback in December 2020, where he remained until January 2021. Kratos then made a brief reappearance in the Item Shop in March 2021. Kratos has not returned toFortnitesince, making his last appearance over 700 days old. Even whenFortnitehad the perfect opportunity to tie in withGod of War Ragnarok’s release last November, Kratos still didn’t make his triumphant return.
This problem extends to a range of other Gaming Legends characters. WhileHalo’s the Master Chief has appeared in the Item Shop much more frequently than Kratos and Aloy, he still hasn’t been seen in almost 300 days.Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield has suffered a similar fate, having not appeared since April 2022, almost an entire year ago. ThoughFortnitenaturally wants to keep some of its skins rare, so that it can then make a big deal of a returning skin and encourage players to grab it while they can, it does feel a little unfair that these Gaming Legends skins have to wait so long in rotation. This also means that newFortniteplayers won’t be able to get the skins for months, or even years at a time, and while there are plenty of other crossover and regular skins to choose from, it still feels a little limiting for new players.
Fortniteis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
