Twitch streamer Tfue made headlines last year thanks to hispublic split from FaZe Clan, which involved lawsuits, contract disputes, and more. Tfue has since remained a popular figure in the professional gaming community, primarily streaming Epic Games’Fortnite, but he’s made headlines these last couple of days for a reason completely unrelated to video games.

Tfue was in a relationship with fellow streamerCorinna Kopf, but the two recently broke up. Meanwhile, controversial YouTube personality James Charles tweeted out a request for a Valentine’s Day date, to which Tfue volunteered. Charles then asked where their date night would be, though many online assumed that the two were just joking. However, Tfue then tweeted out an image of himself and Charles on a jet-ski, along with the caption “it never hurts to shoot your shot.”

The Tfue/James Charlesdate tweet has blown up since being originally posted to Twitter on February 16. At the time of this writing, the tweet has 288,000 likes and over 21,000 re-tweets. It’s also gotten the attention of other Internet personalities, including Tfue’s ex-girlfriend Kopf.

Most people may ignore Internet drama like this, but the significant reaction to the posts are a testament to just how popular streamers can become in this day and age. Tfue may not have the same kind of mainstream recognition asMixer streamer Ninja, but he is still quite easily one of the top video game streamers in the world. Combine that with James Charles' significant social media following and it’s not surprising that the two meeting up has become such a big deal online.

Tfue’s status as one of Twitch’s top streamers has even made him seemingly impervious to punishment on the platform. Tfue has received two suspensions on Twitch in the past - one for using a racial slur in a stream and another because his Twitch chat was being “toxic” to another streamer. In September of last year,Tfue used a racial slur during aMinecraftstream, but Twitch refused to punish him, perhaps because that would mean his third strike and permanently banning one of its top streamers.

Even though Twitch didn’t suspend Tfue,Tfue went on a self-imposed exilefrom the streaming service, taking about a month off and citing concerns for his happiness.
