Several days ago, Nintendo revealed that it is releasingFire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Lightin the west for the first time ever since its release back in 1990. Of course, the announcementsparked excitement among theFire Emblemcommunityespecially since it will be released digitally alongside a physical collector’s edition to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
However, players should note that both the digital edition and the 30th Anniversary Edition will be another limited-time release. The digital version of the game will only be available on the eShop until July 25, 2025, while the special edition will be available on December 4 until supplies last. Due to limited release, the demand for the 30th Anniversary version ofFire Emblemhas skyrocketed since the announcement and is currently sold out.

Unsurprisingly, scalpers are already taking advantage of the situation and prices for the 30th Anniversary Edition are getting out of hand. As a reference, theFire Emblem 30th Anniversary Editionretails for $49.99, which is a good deal given the number of collectibles included in the special version. However, looking at eBay and other similar websites, several listings are offering the game for more than double the suggested retail price. Of course, given that theFire Emblem 30th Anniversary Editionis already sold out, some of the listings already have bids on them, which goes to show just how much in demand this special version of the game is.
To the uninitiated, theFire Emblem 30th Anniversary Editionincludes various freebies making ita perfect collectible for die-hard fans of theFire Emblemfranchise. It includes a download code for theFire Emblem: Shadow of Dragon & the Blade of Lightgame, a Legend of Archanea deluxe art book, a replica Game Pak art piece, a mini Nintendo Power retro collectible, and a replica game box that includes an instruction booklet, protective sleeve, and world map.
Meanwhile, players should know that this is not the first time that scalpers have taken advantage of a Nintendo game’s limited release. Just last month,scalpers were discovered resellingSuper Mario 3D All-Starsahead of its launch date, and similarly toFire Emblem, several listings have jacked up the game’s price due to its limited availability. Of course, it is understandable that Nintendo is only offering the physical versions of some of its games for a limited time, but it is unclear why the company is also treating the digital versions of these games the same way.
