After being delayed a number of times,Far Cry 6will be releasing later this year and many fans of the series are excited for what’s to come. Set in an entirely new location and sure to be populated with memorable characters,Far Cry 6will have a lot to offer its player base in terms of narrative. However, it seems that the game also has a lot to offer in terms of user experience as well.
Quite a lot of content was shown off duringFar Cry 6’sgameplay reveal trailer, one of which being a cute little puppy. A commonality that most of theFar Crygames share is the use of animals. Whether they’re attack dogs used by enemy NPCs or wild animals that can be hunted to craft in-game items, animals play a key role in most of theFar Crygames. However,Far Cry 6offers a more intimate form of interaction when it comes to animals.

A Reddit user by the name of Thereaper29 discovered in-game animations which confirm thatFar Cry 6will allow players to not only pet the dog featured in the gameplay trailer, but also pet what appears to be a trained attack crocodile as well.Far Cry 5was the first game in the series to let players interact with animals in a more friendly capacity, but it seemsFar Cry 6has expanded upon this quite significantly.
More and more AAA games have started to add these kinds of interactive features, largely due to demand from a significant portion of each respective player base. For instance, whenGhost of Tsushimafirst launched, there wasn’t an option to pet animals like dogs or foxes and thanks to high demand from a number of players, Sucker Punch Studios later added the option to pet animals in one of the game’s earliest patches.
Despite how much information has been detailed already in terms ofFar Cry 6, there’s still a lot that players don’t know about the game. According to one of the lead game designers, there will apparently bepost-game content forFar Cry 6that players can do once they beat the main story. Though, as of right now, there’s no telling what that content will look like.
It will be interesting to see what else Ubisoft has planned with regards toFar Cry 6. From what has been shown already, the game seems to possess a lot of the same elements seen in previousFar Cryentries, but also looks to improve on some of the series' shortcomings. More information will surely come to light during the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event happening atE3 2021.
