A fan has recut the trailer to the upcoming Marvel seriesLokiwith the music from 2019’sMidsommar.The mash-up gives the typically light-hearted Loki a more eerie and menacing vibe.
Midsommarwasdirected by Ari Aster(Hereditary)and followed a group of students who travel to Sweden for a festival that occurs once every 90 years. The trip takes a dark turn once the group realizes that they are at the hands of a violent pagan cult.Midsommarearned $47 million worldwide and starred Florence Pugh, who will next be seen as Yelena Belova in Marvel’sBlack Widow.Aster, on the other hand, is teaming up with Joaquin Phoenix forDisappointment Blvd.

Robert E. Acuna recently swapped out the music fromtheLokitrailerwith the score familiar to fans ofMidsommar. The editor/animator gave the forthcoming Disney Plus series a frightening vibe by using the song “The Dance of Death” by Audiomachine, which was notably featured inMidsommar’strailer.Acuna posted the video on YouTube and has also recut the trailers to films likeGood Boys, Joker,andIt Chapter Two.
Lokiwas created by Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty) and will see Tom Hiddleston reprise his role from the MCU. Hiddleston’s Loki has appeared in six films to date and was killed by Thanos in the opening scene ofAvengers: Infinity War. InAvengers: Endgame, a version of Loki from the past used the Tesseract to escape from the Avengers. The beloved character first appeared in 1962’sJourney into Mystery#85 and was created by legendary Marvel writer Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and penciler Jack Kirby.
The six-episode series takes place following the events ofEndgameand centers on an alternate version of Loki who is asked by the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to fix timelines he broke. The cast includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, andOwen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius. The series is looking to build off of the success ofThe Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which just wrapped its first season and had the most-watched series premiere for Disney Plus.
Lokiis one of several Marvel shows that will be released on the streaming service over the next few years.Hamiltonstar Renée Elise Goldsberryis set to star alongside Tatiana Maslany inShe-Hulk. Meanwhile, the Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke-ledMoon Knightwill be starting production this spring. Marvel Studios VP of Production & Development Nate Moore recently revealed that, unlike the other Marvel series,Loki’s story lends itself to multiple seasons.
