When used correctly, a stealth build can be very powerful in many games. InFallout 76, there’s a number of things that players can do to increase how stealthy they are,from perks to consumables.
Sometimes, being stealthy can save the player during sticky situations. Not only that, but with the right build, players can inflict much more damage while hidden from enemies. Being stealthy definitely has its benefits, but it isn’t always easy in the world ofFallout 76. It’s always worth having a few bits and pieces that can help aid a player’s sneaking abilities.
Lose Enemies More Easily
There are a few perks that impact the player’s ability to sneak, andEscape Artist allows players to sneak to lose enemies.Being pursued by enemies can make it almost impossibleto fast travel. By using the Escape Artist perk, players can easily hide after being spotted and travel away to a safer place. It also allows players to readjust their position to gain a better vantage point over their enemies.
Not only does this perk allow players to sneak to lose enemies, but it also makes the player harder to spot while running. This perk card only has one rank, and can be found under the agility category. It is unlocked after the player reaches level 35.
9Light Footed Perk
Avoid Setting Off Traps
Light Footed isn’t exactly a must-have perk for sneaking, but it can still be useful in certain situations. Enemies likeBlood Eagles, Super Mutants, and Scorched tend to have various traps set up around the areas they inhabit. Almost every trap makes a loud noise when triggered, alerting nearby enemies of the player’s presence.
The Light Footed perk prevents the player from setting off traps while in sneak mode.This can be very useful for players who want to sneak up on enemies and get very close before initiating combat. Light Footed can be found under the Agility category, and similar to Escape Artist, this perk only has one rank. Players will unlock this perk after reaching level 38.
8Sneak Perk

The Sneak perk is anotherAgility-based perk. However, unlike the previous two entries, this perk has three ranks to it. The ranks and effects are:
This is a very powerful perk card.If the player uses it alongside some of the other sneak boosts on this list, then they will become almost impossible to detect, even if they are standing right under an enemy’s nose. This perk becomes available once the player reaches level 20.

The best way to maximize damage is to use a gun.While guns usually make lots of noise, there’s one gun that is excellent for sneak builds:The Fixer. The Fixer has two default effects that impact the player’s sneaking abilities:

Sneak Around Undetected With Certain Armor Sets

Being hit in melee causes the player to become invisible once every 30 seconds.

There are also armor sets that players can wear to increase their ability to sneak. Wearing a full set of Thorn Armor will make the player much harder to detect while sneaking. Lastly, there’sChinese Stealth Armor,which allows players to become invisible while sneaking. It also reduces the chance of being detected by enemies by 25% and reduces the amount of noise made while sneaking by 25%.
4Sneak Bobblehead
Makes The Player Harder To Detect
Bobbleheads feature in all of Bethesda’sFalloutgames. Each Bobblehead gives players a unique boost. InFallout 76,those boosts are temporary, but they can still be very useful.
The Sneak Bobblehead makes the player 30% harder to detectwhile sneaking for 1 hour, or for 2 hours if the player is using the Curator perk. There are lots of locations dotted around the map that can spawn a Bobblehead. Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee that the player will find a Sneak Bobblehead. The best way to get specific Bobbleheads is to trade with other players throughplayer vendors, or online trading forums likeMarket76.
3Magazines
Some Magazines Help Boost The Player’s Sneaking Ability
There are two Magazines that give players a direct boost to their sneaking abilities:U.S. Covert Operations Manual 6 and Grognak The Barbarian 2.U.S. Covert Operations Manual 6 reduces player noise while sneaking by 50%. Grognak The Barbarian 2 makes players 20% harder to detect while they are sneaking.
Unfortunately, it’s only possible to have one Magazine active at any given time. Magazines last for 30 minutes, but like Bobbleheads, that time can be doubled if the player is using the Curator perk.
2Stealth Boys
A Fallout Classic
Stealth Boys have been in all of Bethesda’sFalloutgames, and allow players the ability to turn invisible for a limited time.InFallout 76,standard Stealth Boys last for 30 seconds.However, by using the Secret Agent perk, Stealth Boys can last up to four times as long as they usually do.
In addition, the Stealth Boy Mark III allows players to become invisible for a whopping 90 seconds. These improved Stealth Boys can be purchased from the MODUS Production Terminal in theWhitespring Bunker.
1Calmex
Great in Sticky Situations
Calmex is one of themany Chems available inFallout 76.While it’s not the most useful Chem in the game,it can be very useful for stealth builds.When used, Calmex gives the player the following effects for 5 minutes:
While it does not directly impact sneaking in the conventional way, being able to do extra sneak damage can be useful in certain boss fights and situations where there are lots of enemies. The effects of Calmex can last longer if the player is using the Chem Fiend perk.
