The life of a manga artist is hard one where free time is not a luxury. Yet sometimes the hurdles of meeting deadlines cannot tame the need to complete a beloved game as proven by one legendary manga creator.
Hiro Mashima, creator of the popular manga and anime seriesFairy Tail, recently proved that his love forFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketriumphs the need for sleep. The author announced on Twitter that he achieved the platinum trophy forFinal Fantasy 7 Remake,meaning he earned every other trophy in the game.

Getting the platinum inFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeis no easy feat and takes near 70 hours of playtime based on most estimates. Between two replays with one being on hard, dress hunting,moogle medal farmingand sometough secret bosses to contend with, Mashima definitely put in the work. TheFinal Fantasy 7 Remake platinum currently sits at an Ultra Rare 1.3 percent achieved. This achievement in completion doesn’t come during Mashima’s downtime either despite the manga ofFairy Tailending in 2017. Mashima has been working on the spinoff seriesFairy Tail: 100 Years Questsince 2018 as writer with Atsuo Ueda handling illustration. The most recent chapter was released on April 22, just one day before Mashima got his platinum trophy.
Manga artists are notorious for being some of the hardest working creators ever. With Mashima’s role now serving as writer, he doesn’t have the same deadlines he once used to, giving him the time to master the challenges Midgar. There is no denying that writing a manga is a time consuming and delicate art but Mashima definitely put in the work for a fitting platinum trophy.
No release date has been announced for the next chapter ofFairy Tail: 100 Years Questbut fans can rest easy knowing that Mashima doesn’t haveFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketo distract him from writing. As forFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, thegame continues to be a big success for Square Enixdespite some negative reception from fans regarding the narrative changes. As for the upcomingFairy Tailaction RPG coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, players willhave to wait until June due to a delay. Fans will have to ponder if Mashima will platinum his own creation when it releases.
