Sony launched the new era ofPlayStation Plusin June 2022, combining the previous version with PS Now. Although the latter subscription service was around for a long time, PS Now struggled to get over its early negative reputation, so a revamp was needed to wipe the slate clean. PS Plus has been way more successful and reliable.
PS Plus is split into three tiers:Essential,Extra, andPremium. Essential unlocks PlayStation’s online features, along with providing a couple of free monthly games. Along with Essential’s offerings, Extra grants access to hundreds of PS5 and PS4 games; meanwhile, Premium extends the lineup to include older consoles. Each month, Sony adds a bunch ofnew PS Plus gamesto each tier, includingfirst-party PS5 exclusives, third-party juggernauts, PS VR2 games, and indie darlings. Some months are better than others, but they all tend to include a couple of standouts. What are all the monthly games that have been added toPS Plus?

Updated July 27, 2025 by Mark Sammut:Thenew PS Plus Extra gamesfor August 2025 will be available from tomorrow.
PS Plus Essential’s August 2025 free games lineupis among the best of the year so far, largely thanks to one title.Lies of Pis a fantastic Soulslike that took the world by storm when it debuted in 2023. Presenting a twisted take on Pinocchio, and set in a gorgeous city overrun by puppets, Neowiz and Round8’s project takes pretty clear inspiration fromBloodborne, which is never a bad thing. If you are generally into challenging action RPGs, I recommend giving this a try, regardless of your feelings towards Soulslikes.

August 2025’s other free PS Plus gamesare not quite as exciting, but they are not terrible picks either.DayZis firmly established as one of the most popular multiplayer survival games of the last decade, and I believe it is safe to say that it is not going anywhere anytime soon.My Hero: One’s Justice 2is an anime arena fighter based onMy Hero Academia, so this game is primarily for die-hard fans of the IP.
All Monthly Games That Were Free On PS Plus Essential
Formerly known as just PS Plus,Essentialis the minimum required to play online multiplayer on the PS5 or PS4. Every month, the tier rotates a couple of newfree PS Plus games. While these titles are only available to purchase for roughly a month, anyone who picks them up can continue to play them after that point as long as they have an active subscription.
All Games That Were Added To PS Plus Extra
Current Month: July 2025 PS Plus Extra Games
PS Plus Extra includes a catalog featuring hundreds of games. Extra focuses exclusively on PS5 and PS4 titles, and each month expands the existing library with roughly 10 to 20 new additions. Unlike Essential,PS Plus Extra gamesare available indefinitely, although some could be removed after spending a few months on the service.
Thenew PS Plus Extra gamesfor July 2025 are, honestly, fantastic, combining to create one of the service’s best months in a long time. The headline act isCyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red’s once heavily criticized sci-fi RPG that, for the most part, has managed to turn its reputation around. Yes, it took years of updates to get there, but Night City is nowadays a place that demands to be visited by anyone remotely interested in ambitious open-world projects with great writing. Also, if you just want tofeel like a godand destroy a few enemies,Cyberpunk 2077is a brilliant pick.

The good times don’t stop there, as July 2025’s PS Plus games are just all-around exciting. While a bit late to the party,Abiotic Factoris a pretty big deal, due to being a Day 1 arrival. Focusing on co-op but also supporting solo play, Deep Field has put together a survival open-world crafting game that has enjoyed a successful early access run.
Moving on from those two massive new additions, PS Plus Extra’s July 2025 lineup also hasBanishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Don’t Nod’s great action RPG with top-notch storytelling. Young kids might want to check outBluey, whilePlanet Zoois an option for management fans who do not have the game on PC. Alternatively, they can always tryTropico 6.Risk of Rain 2is, simply put, one of the best games of the last decade.

All Classic Games That Were Added To PS Plus Premium
Current Month: June 2025 PS Plus Premium
PS Plus Premiumincludes everything available on Sony’s service. Along with Essential and Extra’s games and benefits, this tier includes a classic catalog of PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP games, along with some PS4 remasters. Premium’s monthly additions have been inconsistent so far, and it is not unusual for a month to go by with barely any classic additions to the tier.
Although most lineups contain only a handful of classics, PS Plus Premium has been steadily enhancing its old-school library, particularly when it comes to PSP and PS1 releases. The games might not all be bona fide masterpieces, but the selection covers both well-known and obscure properties. Since June 2024, Sony has begun to add PS VR2 games to PS Plus Premium.

The July 2025PS Plus Premium new gamesareTwisted Metal 3and4, which are two of the more divisive entries in the franchise. They are charming enough vehicular combat titles in a vacuum, but they are not generally considered high points for the genre or the PS1. Still, if you enjoyed their predecessors, they are worth trying.
