Destiny 2studio Bungie is looking to refine the experience of the long-running MMO shooter after years of continuous content and sandbox updates. The developer has been rumored to have big plans for the solar system in the upcoming Season 11 and beyond, but the latest blog post on its website highlights smaller changes on the way for the game’s Legendary Engrams.
Legendary Engrams inDestiny 2drop the purple-rarity armor and weapons that make up the majority of a Guardian’s typical arsenal. Bungie community manager dmg04 said that going forward, Legendary Engrams will drop weapons relevant to the ever-changing metagame that will rotate in and out on a seasonal basis, with a weapon’s max power level determining how long it stays active for world drops.

“If you’re looking for a specific roll of a specific weapon, a pool too large can make it statistically challenging to find, much less with the roll you want,” the developer’s blog post says. “Starting inSeason 11, it will be curated both for relevance and overall size, to strike a balance between number of rewards and the chance to get a sought-after drop.”
The full list of weapons included in the world pool is below. The current list doesn’t appear to include any of the weapons previously exclusive to seasonal content like last season’s Sundial. Bungie intends to eventually add all ofDestiny 2’s seasonal gearto the loot pool, so players will still get a second chance at getting those weapons at a later date.
The update also appears to be breaking down some of the barriers previously set between weapon drops for the Crucible, Vanguard strikes and Gambit. Some older weapons previously exclusive to those modes, like the Night Watch scout rifle fromGambitor the Nature of the Beast hand cannon from the Crucible, will drop randomly instead. It’s unclear if similar adjustments will be made for armor drops, but players should expect newer gear to stay separated by mode unless Bungie states otherwise.
Bungie’s changes to Legendary Engrams are setting the stage forDestiny 2’s weapon sunsettingsystem, which the studio has announced as a way to keep the meta fresh by letting new weapons and reintroduced ones shine in high-level content. While the system is bringing back some of the design philosophy from the originalDestiny, fans have been split on whether the switch will be a positive or negative one for the game. Only time will tell if the system will work as Bungie hopes.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One. Next-generation versions of the game are also in development.
