A player inElden Ringhas found a new way to utilize the incantation Flame of the Fell God that can make the spell cast much faster than through intended means. The result allows players to bring a strategy into PVP that usesFromSoftware’s iconic fire magicto deal large amounts of damage to enemies and other players.
While the explosion from the fireball created by Flame of the Fell God can be impressively powerful, the casting time can make it much more risk than reward. This risk is made all the more daunting as the spell has downtime after casting when the fireball needs to travel a short distance before exploding. However, oneElden Ringplayer has found an interesting trick that can decrease this wait time and cause an instant explosion to catch opponents by surprise.

Posted to theElden Ringsubreddit, Reddit user gwynsbooty shows off this incredible trick to cast Flame of the Fell God and instantly explode the summoned fireball directly onto another player. The trick is to cast the incantation into a wall or pillar, which still takes the same amount of time for the initial cast, but it cuts out the part of the spell where a miniature sun tries to follow enemies around before exploding. As a result, the caster is able to quickly kill their opponent, which can be a feat on its own when it comes tofighting other players inElden Ring’s PVP.
Skipping an entire phase of casting Flame of the Fell God makes it much more useful in more active combat situations, relying less on the tracking of the spell itself and more on the instant explosion. That being said, the clip does show that the casting player chooses to find a spot to wait for their opponent to be caught off guard and mitigate the initial casting time as well. So, while this tactic can remove the secondary wait time, finding ways toreduceElden Ring’s casting timefor the initial launch of the miniature sun can further improve the incantation.
Casting spells in any FromSoftware title can easily trivialize the difficulty in some fights, as keeping at a distance and spamming powerful sorcery can melt even thehardestElden Ringbosses without getting hit. The same can also be said to a degree for PVP, although most players who regularly fight others can easily dodge out of the way of spell spamming. However, this Flame of the Fell God trick can be a powerful tool depending on the environment, as the quick explosion could give a larger advantage to a skilled player.
