AnElden Ringclip shows why delayed attacks are a problem with its boss fights.Elden Ringis the highest-rated new release of 2022, and it’s also nominated for several awards at The Game Awards event that takes place on December 8. Aside from the title of the best game released in 2022,Elden Ringis nominated for its game direction, narrative, art design, music, and more.

Elden Ringfeatures several fearsome bosses, and some of them are known for delaying their attacks to an unusual degree. These bosses don’t telegraph the move too well, making users guess the exact moment the strike will land. Some players consider this to be a flaw inElden Ring’s encounter design, and one clip serves as a great example of how bosses delaying their attacks may not always work out for the best.

A Reddit user named ValueBaby isfighting Margit inElden Ring. After successfully dodging the first few attacks, the player sees Margit lift his weapon to finish the combo and decides to circle around the boss to hopefully avoid the strike. However, Margit delays his attack for a good five seconds, giving the user enough time to simply walk away from the enemy. The player and the boss stare at each other for a few seconds before presumably resuming the fight.

Many users make fun of Margit for simply forgetting to attack, and one player claims that the boss wanted to deter ValueBaby. AnotherElden Ringfan compares this clip to someone wanting to sneeze but not being able to do so. While the post is filled with jokes, most users seem to agree that Margit changed his mind because the player walked away.

Margit is perhaps famous for delaying his attacks, as fans can find several videos of him changing the timing of the last swing featured in the clip. This post seems like a recreation of anElden Ringvideo from earlier in 2022, as it too featured Margit delaying his attack for a considerable amount of time before changing his mind.

While Margit is ultimately optional, most players will face him as their first major boss inElden Ring. He also blocks thepath to Stormveil Castle, one of the first legacy dungeons in the game. WhileElden Ringfeatures a massive open world, legacy dungeons work similarly to the main levels from theDark Soulsseries, as they are filled with traps, shortcuts, and useful pieces of equipment.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
