Snow and other surprises have arrived in Villedor with the recent launch ofDying Light 2’s Winter Tales Event update, giving fans a host of new additions like weapons, enemy variants, and much more. While this is likely to satiate the appetite of many players over the festive period, many are no doubt eager to see more ofDying Light 2’s ambitious content roadmap, especially with the promise of more firearms and so forth. There’s also the second-anniversary event to look forward to, and beyond that, a second DLC is yet another highly anticipated 2024 drop.
Game Rant recently spoke withDying Lightfranchise director Tymon Smektala about the Winter Tales update and what’s next forDying Light 2. While Smektala understandably didn’t want to spoil any surprises and reveal too much just yet, he did talk a bit about some of the things fans can likely expect fromDying Light 2in the coming months, sharing his thoughts on the progress of firearms, Tower Raid, the approaching second anniversary, and future DLC.

Dying Light 2’s Next Update Post-Winter Tales
One of the featuresDying Light 2’s Winter Tales eventintroduced is more enemy variants, which Smektala described as its “new enemy variants initiative.” These include a new take on Goon, Gas Tank, and Suicider enemy Infected types. Smektala also revealed more enemy variants is something players can expect in the next update,
We have another update, like the second one, where we introduce some new enemy variants - with the next one, we will continue the initiative as well. I think players can expect more of those variants appearing in the game over the course of the next few months.

Of course,Dying Light 2’s content roadmap also points to two other eagerly awaited additions: a Tower Raid and more firearms, with the potential fornew guns to flipDying Light 2’s combat on its head. Smektala confirmed both of those promised features are progressing, and he is “really satisfied” with their progress,
…all of those features are progressing. All of those will be released in the upcoming weeks and months, so players can expect that, as we have promised them.

Dying Light 2’s 2024 Roadmap, 2nd Anniversary, And DLC
Looking further into 2024,Dying Light 2’s second-anniversary event also draws closer to Villedor’s horizon. Understandably, Smektala didn’t reveal any specific details just yet but did suggest the event could potentially be much bigger thanDying Light 2’s first-anniversary eventfrom earlier this year, which was a huge update itself, stating there is an ambition “to top” the first one. Comparing Winter Tales to 2024’s second-anniversary event, Smektala also revealed the latter will bring even more content, including new gameplay mechanics,
…We are gearing up for the second anniversary which will drop in the early part of next year, which will actually bring way more stuff, way more content to play and new gameplay mechanics.

Of course, Smektala added fans can also check out the roadmap for “some hints” about what to expect fromDying Light 2’s second-anniversary event. Looking further ahead toDying Light 2’s second DLC, while Smektala didn’t want to spoil anything, he did reiterate that fans can likely expect a moretraditional approach inDying Light 2’sDLC 2when it comes to the zombie apocalypse. Overall, early 2024 is gearing up to be a promising time forDying Light 2and the ongoing growth of the franchise as a whole.
