A new update forDying Light 2: Stay Humanhas been rolled out which not only implements support for Nvidia’s most recent DLSS upscaling technology, but also removes third-party Denuvo DRM software. With the original 2015 release from Techland going down asone of the best zombie gamesof the previous generation, it was probably that a sequel would soon emerge. It took a while for the developer to unleash the follow-up, but it was finally launched at the start of 2022 to decent praise.
WithDying Light 2fast approaching its first anniversary, the studio may be reflecting on the second installment in its open-world parkour survival series, especially with the likes ofDead Island 2coming soon. Over the past 12 months, Techland has been keeping an eye on its sequel, updating it with regular patches and releasing theBloody TiesDLC towards the end of 2022, and there’s been yet another update that will likely please those who aren’t a fan of anti-piracy software.

TheDying Light 2patch notes for Community Update #2 (1.9.0) have been released, outlining precisely what changes and tweaks have been made to the game. Among the usual fixes and gameplay alterations, the PC version now supports Nvidia DLSS 3, the upscaling tech that’s become an industry standard in AAA gaming. However, the notes say that the best experience will come from having a variable refresh rate, or VRR, monitor. One other interesting change is that the developer has now removed third-party DRM. In fact, a quick browse on the sequel’s Steam page no longer shows any mention of the software.
Just before the game released last February, it was revealed thatDying Light 2would come bundled with Denuvo, a specific of anti-piracy tech that’s often the subject of contention among gamers. Denuvo is often cited for being the cause of issues, especially when it comes to gaming on PC. There have even been instances in the past of modders being able to remove the DRM which has resulted in much better game performance overall.
Fortunately, it looks as though a lot of studios are starting to listen to fan responses to DRM. Games such asShadow of the Tomb RaiderandStar Wars: Fallen Orderhave removed the offending software after release.Gotham Knightsalso got rid of Denuvoa few months back, perhaps in an effort to win favor with the community, which often takes umbrage with DRM. And many fans ofDying Light 2will likely be pleased by these latest developments.
