Dragon Ball Super’smain characters of Goku and Vegeta certainly hold the majority of the spotlight in the story, and for good reason. Considering the genre it takes place in, it is no surprise that Goku and Vegeta have both become the powerhouses of the story, being the main protagonist characters and their popularity. However, Gohan and Piccolo have achieved their new forms from theDragon Ball Super: Super Heromovie and with it a new level of strength not previously achieved from these two. As a result, many fans have become excited due to their elevated states as well as the possibility of them becoming as strong as Goku and Vegeta, if not stronger. Whether this means that theywillindeed grow stronger than the Goku or Vegeta depends entirely on the direction of the story, and whether Gohan and Piccolo can become stronger than them.
Gohan and Piccolo are both characters that share a common trait of being strong in their own right, and yet their use in the story is usually limited to previous developments afterDragon Ball Zand inDragon Ball Super.Gohan has had a lack of big moments that further made him useful, and Piccolo has been sidelined many times in recent years despite being a former enemy that pushed even Goku to his limits. When they both achieved their new forms in the movie,Gohan and Piccolo both had achieved new levelsof strength that weren’t just for show, but rather extremely scaled and rumored to be able to put them on the same level of Goku and Vegeta. However, does this mean that they can truly achieve Goku and Vegeta’s power and skill with how the movie and story has been going, and what will it mean if it does happen?

Gohan And Piccolo’s Potential For Growth
While Gohan and Piccolo achieved their new forms, it came as a result not just from external factors but purely internal factors that contribute to their gain in strength and technique. The interesting aspect of this happens to be in their genetics as well as their circumstances. For example, Gohan as a half-Saiyan was always told that he had themost potential for strengthand becoming stronger than his own father on multiple occasions; this is true especially in the Cell Saga when he achieved Super Saiyan 2, and it seems to be the same case with his Gohan Beast form. Piccolo is the one who decided to grow stronger and throw himself into a fight that he potentially could have lost, and due to getting an answer from Shenron which clued in to his greater potential, Piccolo achieved his Orange Piccolo form.
These sudden spikes of strength and transformations don’t come from nowhere, and certainly aren’t without precedent or previous evidence as to why they are so sudden. In the case of Orange Piccolo, it represents anew awakening to Piccoloever since he fused with Kami back in the Cell Saga, one that has pushed and showed his growth to being a daring opponent to even Cell Max in the movie. And Gohan has always been stated to have a greater potential of growth considering his age and heritage, being half-Saiyan meant he had the Zenkai Boost as well as the capability to transform without most of the weaknesses of pride and single-minded battle lust. As a result, his Gohan Beast form is another extension of his potential breaking his limits, and eclipsing his Ultimate Gohan form as well. The two of these transformations put them nearly in equal measure against Cell Max, and Gohan Beast practically dwarfed Cell Max in power and speed. However, with all of this mentioned, does this prove that Gohan and Piccolo can exceed Goku and Vegeta?

The Conclusion
When comparing and contrasting both of these pairs, Goku and Vegeta have a huge set of powers to reach as well as some training ahead of them. While Goku is training and trying to achieve Ultra Instinct to let his body move on its own, hopefully achieving the state he has achieved in the Manga and the anime, Vegeta is attempting to improve himself while also trying to forge his own path separate from Goku. These two havegreat powers and transformationsthat put them at the top of the power scaling for the main cast, which is easy to understand and to be expected at first. After all, Goku and Vegeta by far have the best opportunities to train with Whis and exceed their mortal limits, thanks to God Ki.
However, once Gohan and Piccolo have achieved their transformations as well as proved themselves to have gained stronger abilities, it seems that Goku and Vegeta’s positions may be challenged in the future. Despite Orange Piccolo’s struggle to fight against Cell Max once he was released, he held up on his own and fought hard and contributed to helping Gohan Beast defeat and deal the finishing blow. The intriguing part about all this is thatDragon Ball Super: Super Heromanages todefinitively give Gohan and Piccolo a chanceto be at the top spot of fighters as well as the attention of the fans and their excitement overall. Even so, only time will tell once theDragon Ball Superanime comes back if these transformations will stick and be important for the overall story or used to their fullest potential.
