Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg warns fans not to expect an official Xbox Lockhart announcement any time soon. The Xbox team is preparing to hold its Xbox Games Showcase next week, when it will revealmore information about Xbox Series X games likeHalo Infinite, but Greenberg wants fans to set their expectations right.
On Twitter, Aaron Greenberg, the general manager of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft responded to the “wild expectations” being posted about theXbox Games Showcaseevent on June 16, 2025. Greenberg told fans that the event has just “one focus” and that is “games,” also saying that there will be “no business, devices or similar news.” As though he hadn’t made his point quite clear, Greenberg added that the event will be a “whole show about [an] hour long focused on games.”

The Xbox Games Showcase is expected to be a blowout of first-party game announcements. Developers like The Initiative could be showing their very first game, while Xbox acquisitions such as Obsidian Entertainment, inXile Entertainment, andSenua’s Saga: Hellblade 2developer Ninja Theory could also have something to share. There are now 15 development teams under the Xbox Game Studios banner and any number of them could be set to make a major announcement at the event.
However, this is disappointing for those who want some sort of official confirmation about Xbox Lockhart, the rumored second next-gen Xbox console. There have been several rumors about the console over the last few months, andXbox Lockhart has been referenced in official developer documents.
There have also been leaks suggesting that theXbox Lockhart will have weaker specs than the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. Popular rumors suggest that the console will be able to run Xbox Series X games in 1080p and not 4K, but that’s speculation until the Xbox team makes an official statement.
TheXbox Series X box art, though criticized by many for being too cluttered, may have also provided fresh evidence that Xbox Lockhart is real. The top of the box art features the names “Xbox One” and “Xbox Series X” but to the right of that, there seems to be a space which could potentially fit a third Xbox console name in it. That could well be the Xbox team’s plan, but fans won’t be hearing about it officially at next week’s event.
