Bungie’s offices still being on vacation for the holidays means no This Week at Bungie posts before 2023, soDestiny 2YouTuber and streamer Aztecross chose to have some fun to close out 2022 by playfully trolling the developer with his own TWAB. Aztecross typically tries to inject humor into most of his content, from random jokes about the game’s universe to just random one-liners while reviewing the newest exotic weapon. However, his latest video put his humor on full display with his TWAB covering everything from bringing back the Twilight Garrison exotic, aSIVAexpansion, skill-based matchmaking, and much more.
Destiny 2is currently in its final season of year 5, titled Season of the Seraph, which looks to set the table for the events to come whenLightfallreleases in February 2023. The season sees players work alongside Ana, Elsie, and Clovis Bray, Mara Sov, and Osiris to reform and reawaken the AI Rasputin after being dormant for nearly two years. Players must also halt a push by The Witness' forces to take control of Rasputin’s dormant arsenal before it can be used against the Last City and uncover what secrets the AI has stored away before The Witness can claim them.

Lightfall’s upcoming releasewas among the many subjects Aztecross managed to work into his TWAB, which baits viewers in with an opening saying the team decided to drop a surprise post to close out 2022. It escalates from there with outlines of a new Cabal-infused Iron Banner mode, quitter penalties, weapon tuning, airborne effectiveness, and various other topics either joked about or suggested by Aztecross and the largerDestiny 2community. The video continues on for 17 minutes, with it saving some of the most obvious jokes for the final few minutes, chief among them being aDestiny 3announcement and the platform it will be on.
Aztecross' video was met with largely praise from viewers who were quick to share their appreciation for the humorous video in the comments. Most viewers applaud Aztecross for baiting them in during the first few minutes, saying how the writing and tone of his TWAB were similar to a typical TWAB post directly from Bungie. They go on to point out the different points at which they figured out the video was meant as a joke, with most viewers citing the return of theTwilight Garrisonexotic armor piece or the idea of “Silver-based matchmaking” in the Crucible.
As mentioned above, Aztecross has never been shy about sharing his sense of humor with his viewers and injecting it into his many videos aboutDestiny 2. It isn’t unusual to see him in a video or on a stream cracking a joke at the expense of Bungie, fellow guardians, or his own viewers from time to time. However, his viewers would likely point out this is all meant in jest and only reflects Aztecross' love forthe largerDestinyuniverse, a love he is open about almost as often as he is with his jokes.
Destiny 2is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
