Servers forDestiny 2as well as its predecessor will remain offline throughout much of the day as the developers work on implementing a new hotfix that aims to eliminate many of the common issues that players have been facing since the launch of the game’s latest expansion. In particular, Bungie has claimed that this patch aims to fix the “invisibility” glitch that manyDestiny 2fans have frequently been running into recently. While there have been many commonly reported technical issues across all platformssinceDestiny 2: Lightfallwas released, perhaps the most irritating bug has been one that causes the player model, their held weapons, and other nearby Guardians to become invisible due to not correctly loading in. This issue seems to have been encountered by players across all platforms, and generally occurs after playing the game for a couple of hours without closing it. While this problem has been reported by players over the past couple of years at least, it seems to have become significantly more widespread since the launch ofLightfall, and seems especially problematic in activities such as the Crucible.RELATED:Destiny 2 Taking Steps to Eliminate Easy Artifice Armor FarmingFans have been making use of a makeshift solution to this problem over the past couple of weeks which involves closing and reloading the game every once in a while, though it proved to only prevent the issue temporarily. In last week’s TWAB post, Bungie announced that they had scheduled a fix for this invisibility glitch, which will go live with the upcoming hotfix. Bungie made a post on its official support Twitter account explaining thatservers for bothDestinyandDestiny 2will temporarily be brought down for maintenance while the hotfix, hotfix 7.0.0.5, is applied. Players will remain unable to log in until 12:00pm PDT, though server maintenance is not expected to conclude until 1:00pm PDT.

As was mentioned in its earlier blog post, Bungie made the decision to delaythe Iron Banner Crucible eventfor a week as a direct result of the aforementioned invisibility glitch. This limited-time PvP event was intended to begin on March 14th, but will now instead begin on March 21st to ensure that players don’t experience the issue of opponents that haven’t visually loaded into the match. Additionally, Trials of Osiris has been brought forward by a week, starting on Friday March 17th instead of the 24th as was originally planned.

Thelatest expansion forDestiny 2has been a divisive subject for many in the community over the past couple of weeks, with the DLC delivering heaps of content in the form of new weapons, a new destination area on Neptune, Strand, and much more. That said, the campaign’s narrative has resulted in considerable disappointment for many fans both old and new, and many players are hoping that their most burning questions are cleared up in the coming seasonal content prior toThe Final Shape.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
