Destiny 2has gone through many major changes since it was released, but ritual activities have more or less remained untouched throughout the years. They still make up the brunt of the game’s core gameplay loop, and there are plenty of challenges between seasons that involve completing games in these activities.
Despite being so close to the heart ofDestiny 2,the game doesn’t exactly tell players what these ritual activities are, and withthe plethora of things to dothat come with every new season, things might just get even more confusing to Guardians who have freshly rose from their graves.

What Are Ritual Activities in Destiny 2?
Simply put, ritual activities refer to the three playlists ofDesitny 2,namely Vanguard Operations (PvE), Crucible (PvP), and Gambit (PvPvE). Game modes under these activities count as a ritual activity, and anything players do within them will count towards the progress of relevant triumphs and challenges. Such modes include:
Crucible
Gambit
Every week, players can getPowerful or Pinnacle rewardsfor completing challenges in each ritual playlist. Usually, players only need to complete three Strikes, Crucible matches, or Gambit games. However, more difficult game modes have weekly challenges of their own. For example, Nightfall Strikes will reward players with more loot once they reach a 200K score threshold (harder Nightfalls give more score).
Meanwhile, the Crucible’s Trials of Osiris gives additional loot when players win enough rounds on their currently-equipped Trials card.

As far as seasonal challenges and triumphs go, those that involve ritual playlists can be progressed in any of the game modes listed above unless otherwise specified. Also, be mindful of the requirements for each challenge, as some may require players to use certain weapons or even specific archetypes.
Every season, Bungie introduces a newritual weaponthat players can get by reaching Rank 16 with any of the three ritual playlist vendors (Zavala, Shaxx, and the Drifter). The ritual weapon will always be the same regardless of where players focus their attention, though each vendor will have a specific, ritual-themed ornamentfor the ritual weapononce players reset their ranks with them for the first time.
Ritual weapons and ornaments can only be earned during their respective seasons. Players who do miss their shot can insteadbuy old ritual weaponsfrom the Monument to Lost Lights, the Exotic and Legacy gear kiosk at the Tower, next to the Vault stations.
