Destiny 2’s 30th Anniversary Pack is getting a lot of praise online for all its content and the great loot, which is something that players haven’t had a lot of for a while now. The30th Anniversary Packis but a stop on the road to The Witch Queen in February of next year, however, and it’s the expansion that is going to bring a new campaign and interesting narrative developments to Bungie’s looter shooter.
As such, thenew trailer forDestiny 2’s The Witch Queen presented at The Game Awards 2021was a great way to build more hype and place expectations. The video shows footage from the very first mission that players will need to complete when The Witch Queen launches, during which Guardians will have to face a powerful Hive Knight with the powers of the Light - a Hive Guardian. There’s a lot to the new trailer, and many players didn’t miss the detail that they will get to return to Mars next year, although it’s unclear at this stage whether it’s going to be for a single mission or not.

Still, aDestiny 2fan shared a Reddit post under the name of iamtjsmith, which includes plenty of screenshots of hidden frames from the trailer. These are not all extremely relevant, but some of them do offer great insights into what might happen with Savathun and other charactersonce The Witch Queen drops. In fact, the images show what seems to be either Osiris or Zavala near a Hive portal, which could mean that one of them is deeply involved in the storyline, considering that Savathun’s disguise as Osiris has already been discovered.
Another very interesting bit comes from the hidden frames that show Cabal Psions wearing their usual red colors when alive and shooting the players. However, upon death, their body armor changes to blue colors, which is very similar to that of Caiatl’s legion. This could possibly lead toDestiny 2players shooting their allies because they are being tricked by Savathun to do so.
Considering thatDestiny 2’s Season of the Lost sets up The Witch Queenthrough story missions, it’s not impossible that some of these mysteries will be revealed before the expansion launches. However, it’s also possible that Bungie wants players to delve into the campaign blind, not knowing anything about it.
Destiny 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
