Bungie appears to have failed to disclose a number of importantDestiny 2changes that dropped as part of the game’s mid-season content update. As these changes contain a number of Guardian ability nerfs, this has led to a substantial amount of criticism from the player base, with many fans believing that the situation was not an accident.Though most players were initially looking forward toDestiny 2’s mid-season rebalancing passdue to a number of weapon buffs and other assorted meta improvements, it seems like these came with a cost. Notably, Bungie released a post-launch patch note addendum via Twitter, featuring almost a dozen non-insignificant changes that weren’t included in the full release document.RELATED:One Destiny 2 Weapon Perk Points to a Returning EnemySinceDestiny 2is going through a bit of a rough patch, with many people feeling that both theLightfallDLC and the ongoing Season of Defiance fell short from a narrative standpoint, players were excited to see how the game’s meta might change as more weapons became viable in most of the available content. This excitement, however, appears to have been all but halted by Bungie’s failure to reveal all the pertinent changes in the original patch notes.
Aside from being disappointed withDestiny 2’s final Defiance mission, players are now also disappointed by the fact that Bungie didn’t mention a reduction in the Guardians' ability to generate Orbs of Power through the interaction of the Firepower and Heavy Handed mods, for example. The Strand Grapple ability’s interaction with Grenade Kickstart mods means that it’s now harder to chain grapples together. This particular interaction is nerfed further still by the fact that it will no longer receive a Super ability bonus while using the Ashes to Assets mod.
These unmentioned changes are exacerbated further by the fact that the mid-season update also stealthilyremoved a noteworthyDestiny 2Neomuna farming method, making it harder to earn XP, weapons, and other materials on Neptune. The community is predictably unhappy about the situation, with most players being quite pointed in their criticism of Bungie’s handling of the matter.
One silver lining is that thesurprisingly powerfulDestiny 2Void Hunter buildis still available at this time, with none of its major constituent parts getting disabled and/or nerfed just yet. Still, the community is suspicious of the fact that some of the most problematic changes introduced with the mid-season update weren’t included in the official patch notes, but only came about later on via a predictably overlooked Twitter announcement.
Destiny 2is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
