The next chapter in theDestiny 2saga,Lightfall, will bring the campaign to its climax by featuring surreal new enemies and futuristic combat abilities that will help fans explore never-before-seen locations. The main antagonist of the expansion, The Witness, will be deploying a legion of freshly-designed soldiers called Tormentors that Bungie developers are excited to reveal.

Lightfallwill bring numerousquality-of-life features toDestiny 2, but many players won’t be focusing on the mechanics. Destiny 2’sextreme bossesand powerful enemies, especially in raids, have become a staple of the title’s gameplay. As such, players have been expecting something visually and technically unique to grace theDestiny 2storyline, and it seems as though the Tormentors will not disappoint. The Tormentors are giant beings that carry melee weapons and are evocative of the Vow of the Disciple raid. The creatures have protruding appendages, long arms and legs, and wield immense power.

Indeed, Blackburn stated that the Tormentors will be even stronger than the Hive Guardians from theWitch Queenexpansion. The Hive Guardians used the abilities of The Traveler to defeat guardians, and they were incredibly powerful, especially for solo players. The Tormentors inLightfallwill reportedly plague gamers as they fight through the DLC, and will become challenging even for full fireteams to defeat. Players will need to take advantage ofDestiny 2: Lightfall’sexotic weapons, as well as new subclasses and gear, to destroy The Witness' prominent forces.

Indeed, the newStrand subclass inDestiny 2should allow fans to experience the title like never before. While it is unclear how the power will impact the game, players can hope that Bungie learned from issues with Stasis and won’t be releasing the class in a problematic state. Not matter what happens, however, the newLightfallcontent will change the landscape ofDestinyand bring fans one step closer to the conclusion of the Light and Darkness saga,The Final Shape.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
