Summary

Managing to last even longer than the juggernaut that isFortnite,Dead by Daylightis one of the best examples of the live-service model, and how it can be used to benefit all parties. At its core,Dead by Daylightis an engrossing multiplayer horror game whose core gameplay loop offers a ton of variety and excitement from the get-go. With the addition ofDead by Daylight’s DLC, that core gameplay loop gets even more engaging, and thanks to Behaviour Interactive’s constant updates and patches, the game tries to remain as balanced as possible.

Over the last seven years,Dead by Daylighthas continued to be one of the most popular multiplayer games around, and a good deal of that is down to the game’s consistently great DLC expansions. Encompassing both a variety of crossover IPs and original content,Dead by Daylight’s DLC usually brings at least one new Killer and Survivor to the game, along with a new map. And while a few classic horror game icons are already in the game,Dead by Daylightcould always use a few more.

Originally released in 2008, but given a new lease of life earlier this year thanks to the remake,Dead Spaceis an ideal candidate forDead by Daylight’s next crossover. Naturally,Dead Space’s main hero Isaac Clarkewould be the best choice for aDead by DaylightSurvivor, and the horrific Necromorph would be the natural choice for a Killer. Abilities-wise, Isaac Clarke could be equipped with Perks that allow him to upgrade his and other Survivors' items, and the Necromorph could have some kind of frenzy ability that allows it to perform a fast flurry of attacks.

While most franchises only get the one crossover inDead by Daylight,Resident Evilis the only one to receive two, and there’s nothing stopping the game from continuing to double down on that. With Wesker and Nemesis already being inDead by Daylight, along with Ada Wong, Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine and Rebecca Chambers, there’s already a great deal of representation in the game, yet there’s still plenty of room for moreResident Evilicons to join the roster. It might be fun to see the newerResident Evilgames be represented inDead by Daylight, with Ethan Winters coming as a new Survivor, and Lady Dimitrescu being the obvious choice for a Killer.

One of the most iconic enemies in all of gaming isBioShock’s Big Daddies, and they’d make for the perfectDead by DaylightKillers. While aDead by DaylightBig Daddy Killer could probably just have a simple dash ability akin to characters likeThe Blight or Leatherface, it’d be interesting to see the Killer get a more unique ability based on its appearance in the source material. For instance,Dead by Daylight’s Big Daddy could have an ability similar to The Twins, where he’s accompanied by a Little Sister throughout the match who harvests ADAM from hooked Survivors to build a meter for some kind of bonus ability.

With a sequel just on the horizon, it’s the perfect time forAlan Wake’s titular writer to come toDead by Daylight. WithAlan Wake’s gameplay revolving around the use of a flashlight, it seems only natural that hisDead by DaylightPerkswould grant him a big bonus for using them. Though it would be a little tricky to work it intoDead by Daylight’s gameplay, it would also be great to see Alan Wake’s writing be used somehow, either as a simple voice-over that plays after each generator gets complete as if Alan was narrating and writing the Trial, or as some kind of actual gameplay mechanic.
