Now, Thursday’s Annapurna showcase has revealed major upgrades for bothEdith FinchandOuter Wilds.
What Remains of Edith Finchwas a critical darling when it first released in April 2017. The narrative-based adventure game was praised for its story, receiving numerous accolades including “Best Narrative” at the 2017 Game Awards and multiple Game of the Year nominations.Outer Wilds' 2019 release was met with similar praise from fans and critics alike, receiving multiple nominations and even winning the British Academy’s Best Game award in 2019. Now, both games are set to receive a major graphical upgrade in the near future.

The Annapurna Interactive showcase revealed next-gen upgrades to come for bothWhat Remains of Edith FinchandOuter Wilds. Annapurna confirmedOuter Wildswill be receiving a 60 fps upgrade releasing on both Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 on September 15. The upgrade will be free to players who already own the game on PS4 or Xbox One.Outer Wildsdeveloper Mobius Digital also reassured fans that a Switch version of the game is still in the works, however no release date was revealed during the showcase.
What Remains of Edith Finchis also set to receive a major graphical upgrade coming significantly sooner than that ofOuter Wilds. Annapurna revealed an upgraded version for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 that would support both 4K resolution and 60 fps. The graphical enhancement was confirmed as free for players who own the game on PS4 or Xbox One, similarly toOuter Wilds' upgrade.Edith Finch’s 4K 60 fps update was also revealed to be available right away following the reveal duringthe Annapurna Interactive showcase.
