Creed 3will be out in just a couple of weeks, and in anticipation of Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut, the final trailer for the film was released. However, this tale of the tape teaser might be up there with some of boxing’s finest promotions.

As the first entry intheRockyfranchise without Sylvester Stallone,Creed 3has a big hill to climb, just like its protagonist will have to work hard to defeat Jonathan Majors in an exciting fight for the sports’ heavyweight title, one with a lot of emotional baggage. While past previews for theMGMsequel have showcased just how strong of an opponent Adonis Creed’s former childhood friend is, this one makes both sides of Donnie’s journey come together.

The lastCreed 3trailer opens up with an image of a Mexican Calaca, often a symbol associated with death. Judging by Dame Anderson’s ruthlessness, it looks likeCreed 3could be anotherRockymovie where a fighter doesn’t make it out of the ring. Nevertheless, it’s not all about boxing becauseCreedfans also get a good look at Donnie and Bianca’s daughter, Amara, whose growth spurt reveals how much time has passed sinceCreed 2.

Although the fight between Jordan and Majors' character is meant to take place in the pair’s native Los Angeles,Creed 3will feature cameos from real pound-per-pound Mexican champion Canelo Alvarez. The film will also bring back Adonis' rivals from the first two movies, Ricky Conlan and Viktor Drago. Besides all these boxers, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith interview helps tell the story of why Creed has to step back into the ring to stop Anderson’s quest for revenge.

Earlyimpressions forCreed 3have been quite positive, even fromCreeddirector Ryan Coogler, who praised how far along Jordan has come to put this movie together, which is probably why the actor now wants to keep on building up theCreeduniverse. Against all odds, theCreedmovies revived theRockyfranchise and transformed it into a sports drama more akin to 1976’s original Oscar underdog than the cheesier sequels.

For his first movie, Jordan has said he channelled the lesson learned from other directors, but being the big anime fan he is, he’s gone as far as to suggest there’s a hint of sports anime inCreed 3. As for his rival, this will be his second blockbuster in the coming weeks since Majors looks just asfearsome inAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
