AHogwarts Legacyfan has discovered a clever strategy that lets players kill trolls without fighting them beyond gaining their attention. There are many trolls thatHogwarts Legacyplayers will have to defeat as they progress through the lengthy storyline, and even more as optional encounters for side missions, but this player may have the best solution to being confronted by the massive magical creatures.
Among the powerfulenemies inHogwarts Legacythat players must overcome in order to finish the game are Dugbogs, giant toads, goblins, a dragon, and many trolls of different types. BecauseHogwarts Legacyhas been released on several platforms already, countless trolls, goblins, and more have been defeated by witches and wizards from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. With many strategies for winning these confrontations already discovered, oneHogwarts Legacyplayer may have come across the most optimal way to fight the trolls that normally involve back-and-fourth attacks with just aggro required in this trick.

Reddit user Confusedplayer recently shared a clip of theirHogwarts Legacyexperience in which they run into a river troll in the open landscape surrounding Hogwarts castle. TheHogwarts Legacyclip begins with the player starting a combo with one basic spell, leaving the others available for a follow-up attack that never comes as the character turns around and summons their broomstick. With the river troll continuing to pursue thecustomHogwarts Legacyheroas they speed up to soar off a nearby rocky cliff, the player discovers that the troll runs off the edge and falls to their death in a fight that unfolds even quicker than when a witch or wizard is equipped with the instakill ability, Avada Kedavra.
Not content with only testing their idea on one troll, Confusedplayer confirmed their trick with a second one after dodging a couple of attacks rather than countering them. Once again, theHogwarts Legacyplayer mounts their broomstick and flies off a cliff, taking one hit in the process with the troll quickly following behind them and taking enough fall damage to die like the first. Based on Confusedplayer’s clip, this strategy to kill trolls will do 19,000 damage from drops of differing heights, with the mass of themagicalHogwarts Legacybeastpotentially working against it in its final moments.
BecauseHogwarts Legacyplayers will encounter several trolls before they ever unlock the Avada Kedavra spell, Confusedplayer’s strategy may help fans in the early game. As these level thirty trolls are known to defeat many players, especially when there are multipleHogwarts Legacytrollsin one arena, some fans may end their playthroughs with fewer deaths than they may have otherwise had without Confusedplayer’s technique.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Nintendo Switch port releasing on November 14.
