Castlevania: Nocturneis Netflix and Powerhouse Animation Studios' latest project, set three hundred years after the end of its predecessor. As a result, many new characters are introduced, with some mentions of familiar ones. The order of the day remains the same: Belmont family member, in conjunction with an ethical vampire, takes on significant threats to all of humanity.

The show is filled with characters that possess unimaginable power, all demonstrating mystic arts of some sort. As the story progresses, some characters, like Richter and Annette, develop and become stronger. However, they are still weak compared to the significant antagonists set to wreak havoc in the show’s second season, which has just been announced. Without further ado, here are the most powerful characters inCastlevania: Nocturne.
10Abbot Emmanuel
The Abbot was first portrayed as a kind clergyman, but as with most clergy members shown in theCastlevaniaseries, he also harbors dark secrets and is in cahoots with monsters from the depths of hell.
He is a Devil Forgemaster, albeit a mediocre one that works with a machine, unlike the skilled Forgemasters fans are used to seeing. But just like the others, he has complete control over the night creatures he manufactures for Erszebet’s army, putting him above most characters in the show despite being a regular human.

9Maria Renard
Maria is a great supporting characterwho is formidable in battle. As the daughter of a powerful speaker sorceress, she is expected to possess power of some sort. Rather than the normal elemental abilities most speakers are known to possess, Maria can summon animal familiars from another world that act as an extension of her.
She has only shown three animals, but it is yet to be seen if she can learn to summon stronger ones. Her ability with the sword is also commendable, and it can be assumed to be a result of her training with Richter that may have happened off-screen.

8Tera Renard
Tera is Maria’s mother and Richter’s aunt, who comes from a long line of speakers related to Sypha Belmont. Like most speaker sorceresses, she can manipulate and generate elements like wind, fire, water, and ice. She is also very knowledgeable about magic and the way of the world, being able to read a book from hell to summon a portal that leads there.

She has also shown her ability in combat against several vampires and night creatures. Although she is still relatively weak compared to the big guns, she is one of the strongest characters in the series.
7Annette
Characterizedmainly by her African roots, Annette was born to an enslaved person on Comte de Vaublanc’s farmland. Most of her motivation stemmed from killing her mother’s killer and the rest from stopping the rise of the Devourer of Light, eventually leading her to Richter.
She comes from a long line of Yoruba gods and is a descendant of Ogun, the god of iron and war, and Orunmila, the god of intelligence and wisdom. She can forge weapons from anything and control the earth with her abilities. In combination with her swordplay, she is a very formidable warrior.

6Drolta Tzuentes
Drolta is one of the oldest characters in the series, dating back to the era of ancient Egypt, where she was the priestess of Sekhmet, the Egyptian Goddess of war and death. As a result, she is theright hand of the Vampire Queen, who claims to be the goddess’ reincarnate.
Drolta Tzuentes is highly intellectual and cunning, with the supernatural speed, reflexes, and strength most vampires possess. She has also accumulated a significant amount of battle experience throughout her time on Earth, with only a few characters in the show able to rival her.

5Julia Belmont
One of the very few Belmont women depicted in the stories, Julia is the mother of Richter and daughterof Juste Belmont, who moved to the United States to continue the Belmont family mission. She can perform magic, like Sypha, due to being one of her descendants and is very formidable with the Belmont signature whip.
One might argue that she could have defeated Olrox if Richter had not interfered in their battle. She is also skilled in close-quarters combat and is strong enough to be featured despite only getting a few minutes of screen time.

4Richter Belmont
Richter, the titular protagonist of the series, is based on the character from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, albeit loosely. His canon event was seeing his mother die to Olrox, and it took confronting the memories of those terrible events for him to regain his magic.

He is skilledwith the whipand decent in close-range combat, easily taking out the strong vampires with his martial prowess. After unlocking his signature blue flame that instantly incinerates vampires, he became strong enough to go toe-to-toe with Drolta Tzuentes.
3Olrox
Olrox is the source of Richter’s troubles and trauma, killing the young boy’s mother and promising to kill him later in life. The mere sight of Olrox made Richter panic, and he was described as his nightmares made flesh. He is a mighty vampire of Aztec origin who can also perform magic.
The serpentine form he can shapeshift into is reminiscentof the Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl, while also capable of firing blasts of lightning and flaming skulls to take out his opponents from long-range. His ability to become intangible is also quite pesky in battle, giving him an edge against most opponents.

2Alucard
Fans of theCastlevaniaseries are familiar with the strengths of Alucard, being one of the strongest characters in the first installment, second only to his father, the infamous Dracula. His most notable combat mode is mind-controlling his sword, although he is competent with the sword in his hands.
His cameo inCastlevania: Nocturne’s finalewas enough to cement his place above most characters in the show. It remains to be seen how he will fare against Erzsebet Bathory and how much he has improved in the past three hundred years.

1Erzsebet Bathory
The self-proclaimed reincarnation of Sekhmet is based on a real-life Hungarian princess who allegedly killed young women who were sent to her castle to become maids. She is the Vampire Messiahwho aims to plunge the world into eternal darkness by blocking out the sun with the moon forever; hence, she is also called the Devourer of Light.
As a vampire, Erzsebet is very formidable, but her goddess form is the cream of the crop, taking her to power levels that have not been seen since Dracula Vlad Tepes in his prime.
