While video game leaks sometimes come from inside sources, it seems most game leaks nowadays come from datamining efforts. Dataminers sift through the PC files of various video games, and it’s there where they find evidence of upcoming events and new content. Infinity Ward’sCall of Duty: Modern Warfareis no exception, with dataminers discovering a huge variety of things that could be in the works for the popular first-person shooter.
Since the launch ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, dataminers have found files that point to new maps, game modes, and much more. Some of these have been corroborated by past leaks from supposed insiders, which lends them even more credibility than they have otherwise. Even so, it’s quite possible that Infinity Ward won’t finish some of the content that dataminers have found. Plans can change over the course of development, so fans should keep that in mind before getting too excited about any of theCall of Duty: Modern Warfareleaks.

With that in mind, here are all the big datamine leaks that have been discovered inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Battle Royale
With games likeFortniteandApex Legendsdominating the online multiplayer landscape, it’s no surprise that a battle royale mode is supposedly in the works forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare.Battle royale has been rumored forCall of Duty: Modern Warfaresince before the game launched, but datamining efforts have found some of the first concrete evidence that battle royale is making its way to the game.
While it does seem likely thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewill be getting a battle royale mode, it remains to be seen what form this will take. Some rumors point to theCall of Duty: Modern Warfarebattle royale mode being free-to-play, and available apart from the core game. The general consensus seems to be that ifCall of Duty: Modern Warfaredoes get a battle royale mode that it will release at some point in 2020, so it might be a few months before fans learn anything about it.

Zombies
Ever sinceCall of Duty: World at War, Zombies has remained one of the most popular game modes in theCall of Dutygames. However, Infinity Ward has generally stayed away from Zombies, only ever dabbling in the mode withCall of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Considering this, it wasn’t a huge surprise when it was confirmed thatZombies would not be inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare, with the reason given being that their presence would clash with the realism that the game is trying to achieve.

However, dataminers have found some evidence thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfarecould be getting a Zombies modeafter all. The names of the files seemed to suggest that zombies may be incorporated into a standard multiplayer mode, or that they may be added to Spec Ops as a new co-op experience for fans. It seems unlikely that there will be a Zombies mode added that’s similar to Zombies from previous games, but that remains to be seen.
New Multiplayer Match Types
While mostCall of Duty: Modern Warfarefans may be more interested in the leaked battle royale and Zombies modes, there have been leaks for multiplayer as well. More specifically, dataminers have found evidence of new match types that could be making their way toCall of Duty: Modern Warfarein the near future. One of the leaked match types,Kill Confirmed, has already been added to public playlists, so it’s not a stretch to assume that the other leaked modes will be coming as well.
All or Nothing

One in the Chamber
Search and Rescue

Rupture
Team Juggernaut
Fans will notice the return of some fan favorite game modes likeGun Game and One in the Chamber, but there are some new modes in the list as well. At any rate, these new modes should provideCall of Duty: Modern Warfaremultiplayer fans with some more variety if and when they are added to the game.
New Maps
Call of Duty: Modern Warfarewill be supported through the release of free DLC multiplayer maps, but what those maps may be has yet to be confirmed. However, that hasn’t stopped dataminers from potentially leaking them, with Infinity Ward reportedly having new maps in the works for standard multiplayer, the2v2 Gunfight mode, and the large-scale Ground War mode.
Hook
Shoot House
And here are the names of the leaked standard multiplayer maps:
Transit
TV Station
And finally, leakers have also revealed a potential newGround Warmap called Smetna Farms. Apparently, Smetna Farms will feature locations such as Central Barn, Hay Storage, Launcher, Silos, and Windmills.

Some of these maps have been mentioned by other leakers in the past, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them come to the game. In fact, there are some maps that even haveimages of them inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s files, like Rust, so it seems that they be farther along than expected. Meanwhile, some previously leaked maps haven’t been found by datamining efforts, like Terminal, though there has been some speculation that the map “Layover” is really just a Terminal remake.
Call of Dutygames have often re-released fan favorite maps as DLC, so it wouldn’t make sense for that trend to stop withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare. No DLC maps have been confirmed at the time of this writing, but some should be revealed in the coming months.
Gun Course and Marksman Range
Right now, the best way forCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers to practice before jumping online is to take on bots, but some would rather have more specific tutorial modes available. As it so happens, dataminers may have discovered that such modes will be coming to the game in a future update. Files have been found forGun Course and Marksman Range, with the former presumably being something similar to the obstacle course tutorials from past games, and the latter being a way for players to test out weapons. Like the other leaks talked about here, neither of these modes have been confirmed just yet, though it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see them added.
Can These Leaks Be Trusted?
Activision has already filed DMCA takedown notices against some of theCall of Duty: Modern Warfaredataminers, so it does appear as though these leaks are legitimate. However, we must stress that even though files exist that reference this unreleased content, it doesn’t mean that any of it will actually come to the game. Ultimately,Call of Duty: Modern Warfarefans will just have to wait for some official information from Activision or Infinity Ward to be certain.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
